I am babysitting and I turned off the oven after making macaroni. The oven hadn't cooled down in an unusually long time so we put a wet/cold cloth over it and it made it worse.
How do we cool it off?
and yes it is turned OFF.

Call the children's parents. Maybe they have had this problem before.

I don't know what an unusually long time is, but I would just wait. It takes very long for an oven to cool. If it does not, pull out the oven drawer on the bottom and unplug it.

you use the oven for macaroni?
well if its the oven... close the door
if its the stove.... keep the kids occupied w/ something else so they dont go near it while its cooling... like sit them down to eat, outside to play, draw, fav show.
is there a cover?? dont put it on untill its cooled down, that will get hot too.
was that the right answer??

hmm yeah.. call the parents... or close the door and come back to it later and check, sometimes they take a while to cool down.....
are the elements inside red, like they are still heating up??

Yes, call the parents. Maybe they know that it's normal and not to worry about it. If they think it's odd, then that's why they left their number so you can alert them. I know I had a dryer that would heat up even when off. Turned out to be a bad element so I unplugged it. Best to see what the parents say, it may be nothing, but it would be good to tell them.

Our oven does the same. Turn it back on for a minute or two then turn it back off. That may shut it down.

Call the parents, if its a glitch they probably know about it. Go ahead, now, call the parents.

Pull the plug or throw the breaker.

DON'T SPASH WATER: you may get burned. If it keeps up, call the owner.

I would unplug it and then have it serviced. It doesn't sound right, that it is not cooling down.
