Yup! I can go in the backyard and step on pebbles or a dog bone or something and it not hurt.
I don't intentionally step on things to see what my tolerance for pain is though!

It can be a sign of diabetes or it can be a sign of thick soles from regular barefooting :-) I do *feel* what I step on, but due to a thick skin that comes from ten years of going barefoot everywhere, it doesn't usually *hurt*. Thorns from brambles or thistles I do notice, but they don't penetrate the thick skin so it's not painful. Glass doesn't go through either, I get a tiny splinter maybe once a year. When it does it 'hurts' as a splinter does, a small prick not worth mentioning. I pick it out & move on. Rough pebbles are actually pleasant. It'd have to be a really big and sharp object to really hurt, sometimes a lone big rock can be a bit painful to step on but I've only had a bruise once, hitting a pretty big rock with my arch at a dead run. It too was fine soon after but it's the only time it colored blue a bit.
