How quickly we forget. It was just three years ago when he and his father (Archie Manning) basically called the Chargers one of, if not, the worst franchise in the NFL and they stated that Eli was too good to play on that type of franchise. They demanded that Eli be traded to the Giants or else (I want to say that he and his father whined, but I try not to insult anyone).

Fast-forward through the Chargers going (12-4) in 2004 and making the playoffs; going (9-7) in '05; going (14-2) last season and being #1 in the AFC; plus the last season's TD record by a RB like LT.

On the other hand, the Giants have had chemistry problems between coach Coughlin and the players; going (5-11) in 2004; going (11-5) in 2005; going (8-8) last season; plus Tiki's "pre-mature" retire.

I wonder if Eli and his family still think that the Chargers are a "bad" franchise. I don't think the Chargers are losing any sleep right now with Rivers and LT.

How do you think Eli feels right now?

Jimmyeface: I agree that players should never be able to demand a trade on the day that they are drafted. I think the prestige of Eli's family's swayed the outcome of that situation. That is unfair. But, now, it has come back to haunt them.

David13: The Chargers have made the playoffs the last 2 out of 3 years, though they haven't made it past the first round. The same with the Giants. In my opinion, the current Chargers team has a better chance at going deep into the playoffs than the current Giants team has.

I don't think people are remembering their history correctly. The Chargers were a joke at that point. They hadn't had a winning season since 1995, and Drew Brees was supposed to be replaced because he was doing awful. That is why the Chargers were interested in drafting a quarterback. The 2003 Chargers did awful, hence them having that draft pick. They thought the cause of their problems was Drew Brees. We clearly know that Brees was not the problem, but it was that he had no receivers and no tight end. 2004 comes around, and Antonio Gates suddenly emerges. Now Brees has a dump off guy other than LT, and he has a huge target in the end zone. The defense starts stepping up their game as well. Now the Chargers become a force, and they are able to reverse their record from 4-12 to 12-4.

Now, to answer your question, yes, the Chargers made out like bandits in that trade; however, it's not like Eli went to the Raiders. The Giants made the playoffs 2 out of 3 years with Manning. That's the same number of times the Chargers made it. The Giants clearly are not as talented now, and I'm sure if Eli could go back he probably would have kept his yapper shut. I think it's complete garbage that he was able to demand a trade as a draftee. That is something that should be changed.

All in all, he's still making millions of dollars doing what he loves.... so in the end.... I think he still feels pretty damn good.

Yeah, the Chargers are probably the best team in the NFL going into this year with top of the line talent with LT, Merriman, Gates, and Rivers is developing well. The Giants are on a downswing and will miss the playoffs this year. Plus who the heck would rather live in East Rutherford, NJ over San Diego!

I think it's awesome that this snibbling little ***** got his trade and he sucks and Rivers is the better one. I do think the Chargers wouldn't be as good with Eli. He's just not that great of a QB, or atleast not yet. I love it when a player screws over the team that drafts him and it bites them in the @ss. Hats of to the Chargers for staring him down and making out like bandits.

If Eli would have went to the Chargers then the Chargers would suck just as bad as the Giants do. Eli has shown that he isn't a "great" QB, I feel he's average mabye below average at best who got his draft status so high up just because of who his brother is.

But just looking at records and the supporting staff I would say that Eli and Archie probably feel pretty "Dee Dee Dee" (Carlos Mencia) right now.

i don't think he regrets it. i mean, the reason the chargers have been so good is because of quarterback depth. drew brees the past few years, and rivers this year. had eli taken over, they might not of been the 12-4 and 14-2 team they've been. eli hasn' t had that spectacular of a career, but i'm sure he'll develop into a better player over time

Well he probably thought Brees was gonna be there for a while so just wanted to play somewhere. Betcha he didnt think Tiki was gonna retire that fast either. But tell me, How in the world do you pass up a chance to play with LT. I would be kickin myself in the &*# if i were Eli. However, he should have a decent year this year.

They both did the same in the playoffs, when it really mattered. They lost, remember. Also, with Norv Turner as the head coach, I wouldn't want to be a Charger right now. Coughlin is alright, but he is probably on the way out.

Every day he rolls out of bed he wishes he had a lightning bolt on his helmet and LT in his backfield. Then he looks at himself in the mirror and wishes he had half the talent Peyton has.

Chargers are a waste of talents when it comes to that.
