What about putting a fan blade on one of those little generators used to power bicycle lights when it is driven by the wheel? The fan blade being turned by the wind would substitute for the bicycle wheel. It is not very efficient but could do a small lamp.

Radio Shack used to sell 'science fair' type kits. Some of them have small motor/generator experiment kits with the kind of stuff you are looking for.

Hobby or Craft stores also sell such kits.

get dc motor, like from a toy race car.
get fan blade, like from computer fan.
get resisitor like 100 ohms. hook it all up to an LED.... and blowwwwww.
Solar yard lights are easier.

I would check in walmart or target. go to the fan aisle and there will be your wind generators.
