With my husband, it took forever to get him to stop wetting the bed because he was such a deep sleeper that he wouldn't realize that his bladder was full.

That depends on your age. Toddlers wee because they are still in potty training and haven't learned to wake up when their bladder is full or they haven't learned to hold their wee. Older kids, even into grade school wee because for some reason their bladders have not fully developed enough for them to control their wee or they are such deep sleepers that they cannot wake up to go wee. Older people, like middle aged, have had bladder infections or kidney infections or even had children and one of those things has weekend their bladder walls so that they cannot hold their urine well. Elderly people have sort of the same situation but their age has taken a toll on their organs and they cannot hold their urine for that reason. Have you heard of Kagel Exercises? These are Pelvic Control exercises that you can do to help strengthen your pelvic area. Usually you hear about them for women but men can also do them. They have several benefits but the best one is to help keep your bladder healthy. Here is a site that explains what they are. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kegel_exercise
