I'm leaning 90% towards that jab but I am also scared she might get a bad reaction and die or whatever and it would be my fault.
We live close to Orlando where a lot of tourists are running around. And you never know who could have something when you're taking your little one to the malls there..
How common are measles?

She (15months) did great with the other shots so far. But I heard this one is the worst.

What's up with this Mercola guy? Is it just a bunch of BS?

Viewpoint from the UK here - there has been no research to substantiate the risks of the jab here, but plenty to show what happens if you don't get the jab.

It is more likely your little might die from one of the illnesses vaccinated against, than will die from a reaction to it.

For vaccines to be most effective, everyone has to have them done.

I had my elder daughter vaccinated without a thought and will do so for my second daughter.

The MMR myth of causing autism has been proven false.

However, with ANY vaccine there is something like a 1 in 500,000 chance in a fatality - usually from an allergic reaction to whatever liquid the actual 'germs' are mixed with in order to be able to make it a shot.

There is also a normal side effect of fever, nausea, vomiting, etc - which in my 15 month old - wasnt any different than her earlier vaccination reactions. It lasted about 3 days - so if you both work, get the shots done on a friday and prepare for a whiney weekend. :)

I agree with you - there are way too many people coming into this country from places without good healthcare programs - and Im terrified that something like polio or smallpox or whatever will come back in this country and effect lots of people who didnt get vaccinated.

I say yes. Right now where I live, there is a mumps epidemic. Normally we have 30-50 cases per year, and in the last six months there have been over 400 cases reported. It's because there are so many universities here, so many people from different areas coming together. Some of them foreign countries where they are not immunized. This immunization also wears off over time though. I am 30 weeks pregnant, and during my initial bloodwork, they determined that I must be re-immunized after I give birth because I am no longer immune.

You say she could react badly and die....does your doctor concur? If you don't do it, what if she gets sick and dies anyway? I think the benefits outweigh the risks.

Yes. My daughter had MMR, no problems at all. I was a little worried and asked the pediatrician about possible side affects. He says they are rare. The only reason we know about them is because of the media hyping it up to be something bigger than it's not and nothing has been proven to be a result of the MMR shot, like autism, etc. I wouldn't want to take the chance of my daughter getting sick because I didn't get her vaccinated. She's 2 1/2 years old and has only had a couple of colds in her whole life and she has all of her vaccinations up to date.

They wanted to do it at the 15 month physical, but I was kind of freaked. So I asked the doc if we could wait and she said absolutely. She will get it at either 18 months or age 2, depending on when we agree she is ready.

BUT

she is a reflux toddler and is very small for her age. she has only gained 1.5 pounds since she was 9 months old. that was one of the reasons we waited.

Here's how I look at it: The risks involved in not receiving vaccines outweigh the risks involved in receiving vaccines.

btw~ My 15 month old son just had it & he's doing just fine:)
