Recently I have been getting repeated thoughts about harming the people I love, in sick disquieting ways. I do not want to hurt them though! I just get these thoughts and they won't leave me alone and it makes me ill every time the pop up, like actually ill (I have what I think is kind of a anxiety attack thing). I don't want to act upon any of these thoughts, which I do not want to go into detail about because it is so sick and wrong. The just come suddenly and they won't leave, it starting to keep me out at night I am really getting depressed about this, It makes me feel digesting and ugh. It is almost like OCD, there are obsessive, violent thoughts (but don’t people with OCD just obsessive over things like germs and counting and stuff?), but I have no rituals or anything to do to get rid of them. I'm I just a freak? Is there anything I can do?

Sorry If I was being a bit redundant, but this is really getting to me.

If you are getting violent thoughts, or if your hearing voices, it is essential that you talk to a psychologist right away. You may acute schizophrenia, and may need to start taking medication right away. Dont worry, your not a freak, your brain is just a little out of tune.

It sounds like you have OCD. People with OCD can experience intrusive thoughts that often consists of violent images or thoughts of harming others. This does not mean the person is likely to act on them, actually, it is just the opposite. People with OCD tend to experience extreme anxiety over these intrusive thoughts that have nothing to do with how the person actually feels.

OCD, including the type you are describing can be effectively treated with both medication and Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, particularly when conducted in a group setting.

I also suggest that you consider purchasing the OCD workbook, it is very effective in describing and treating OCD, I have used this workbook in working with individuals with OCD and it is an excellent resources.

Obsessive thinking is more common than you may imagine.

I also discovered that the same event always triggered the bad images I had.

The trick I learned was to immediately think of something more pleasant.

A friend also had a similar obsession. She would hear the same song over and over in her head, but she could never understand the lyrics.

She overcame that by immediately starting to count when the music started. That has worked for her ever since.

I couldn't always avoid my event so I had to come up with my own way.

I imagined seeing the event going on in my mind. I could see myself standing looking at it.

I could see how my body looked and how my face moved.
I pushed that picture as far away from me as possible and immediately started thinking about something I really enjoyed doing.

I made this picture huge and got right into so that I felt everything that was going on.

Now when the event happens I always see my happy picture first and the old one just disappears.

I have Schizophrenia...
No it is not Schizophrenia that is troubling you. It is OCD which is an anxiety disorder, without treatment it tends to get worse over time. See a psychiatrist, take the medicine as prescribed and you will be as right as rain in a week.

I will explain Schizophrenia so you do not have to be so afraid of your thoughts.
Thought patterns expressed by Schizophrenia are things the sane can not comprehend and usually are a cause of much laughter as it revolves around bizarre notions related to science, mathmatics, mythical nonsense and other odd beliefs related to the paranormal, a very common theme is politics, these thoughts are caused by their trying to reason the cause for the terrible condition they find themselves in. Examples of this type of thought, -they may think the CIA or FBI has planted a radio in their head and that is what causing them to hear the constant chatter of voices in their head or that people are using telepathy to talk secretly to their heads, some beleive the loud voices in their heads are beamed from outer space. Combined with hallucinations and delusions, overwhelmed by waves of feelings and troubled with thought disorder they may think they were transplanted in the body they are in or unable to recognise their family members which causes them to sometimes assume that strangers have killed and replaced their family. Other odd ideas are they are the walking dead or perhaps someone famous from the past who has been born to a new life, most noteably they think they might be Abraham Lincoln or Christ. Schizophrenics are able to understand profound secret meanings in simple things such as television, where they tend to think the person on TV is talking only to them. It is just more nonsense. Very rarely, and it is rarely, Schizophrenics will have very bad thoughts about killing people which they will act on and no one will ever suspect before hand that they are about to do something absolutely terrible because of their lack of social expression.

I think you begin to see that you don't have Schizophrenia :)

You need to seek professional help immediately. Obsessive thoughts of harming another is not acceptable and you should talk to a doctor about it immediately. My brother has been diagnosed with a mental illness that sounds similar to your episodes. If you want to save yourself from a world of heartache and trouble go ahead and see a doc! Best of luck to you and if you need any other help, just let me know, I've become a sort of expert on this. I agree with Debbie. I've worked with NAMI before so she knows what she's talking about. Call 911 and get help immediately. They will get you the help you need. You may think you have control of these thoughts, but you can't control it if they are obsessive. Talk to whoever you can and get help!

It may not be full blown ocd. It may just be a form of self hate. You may be unhappy with yourself over mistakes you think you made in life, missed opportunities and this may be a way a getting back at yourself. Recognize it for what it is, don't obsess on the obsession and let it go away. Try not to let it overly concern you when it happens. Don't empower the thoughts. Try to love yourself more and forgive yourself.

You do need help, it's best if you see a doctor post haste, it the electrodes in your brain in one side of the brain is not sending the message through to the other side of the brain properly and it's just throwing your thinking haywire. Don't ever think that you are freak, you are a person with a little problem which can be fixed. I wish you all the best.

You are NOT a freak.
I get them thoughts too.
I have rituals.
I keep having to tap things, move in a certain way, breathe in a certain way, move stuff in a certain place, switch the light switch on& off 67 times..
if i don't do these, my dad will die of cancer.

it sounds silly but that is what OCD is. i havent got over this.
see a doctor about it, they won't think they're stupid or a freak. they will refer you to have cbt (cognitive behaviour therapy) which will help you. i am currently recieving this and it helps alot. it helpz you realise that others are in ur situation and that these thoughts are not uncommon. get help and good luck with you.

You are suffering from an acute psychotic episode, for whatever reason ( s). There could be an underlying physical problem that you are not aware of. But, based on the information that you gave, I would strongly recommend that you seek Medical attention. Today,is Friday, so probably too late to see your Doc but, these feelings and thoughts are harmful and dangerous. Please, go to the nearest ER for an evaluation. God Bless!!
