I was looking through an old church bulletin where I saw a picture of Adam & Eve dipicted in the garden of eden. I looked at it and I noticed that they both have belly buttons. I did some research and every picture or statue dipicting them had belly buttons. I looked in an old old Bible, on the internet...and I saw Adam & Eve with belly buttons. Makes you wonder why nobody ever changed the dipictions. Dosen't it make you wonder???????? What a fairy tale we want to still believe in the 21 century!

Wonder about what? Adam and Eve were created full grown, and of all the commandments in the Bible (not just the most famous 10- commandments) the first two were "Be fruitful and multiply" (do work and have babies). Somethings are just understood without question. There was no sin then, so Adam and Eve were not aware of bad stuff...they were innocent and pure ....child-like. A master plan was already designed in their bodies to nurture more than themselves. The belly button was meant to be more than just cute. I believe that our heavenly father thought about us before he made us. He gave us a place to stay and a food supply and instruction on how to keep it. Fairy tales are man- made, not God-made. It is the presence of sin in this world that brings doubt. All we had to do.... is be obedient and we would had had it made in the shade.

ummm yeah... belly buttons was all you could come up with? That's the least of the problems, that's as superficial as one can get. The real problem is how was a woman made from a rib of a man? And many other things if this is perceived literally, but a belly button from a old painting gets your observation. You are one of a kind. I bet in that picture they had apples in their hands but there was no mention of a apple in the scriptures at all.

It's not that this story is a fairy tale, it is an allegory, one that is esoteric and has a specific philosophical and internal meaning. Literal interpretations do not hinder this fact.

Sorry I'm confused, why is it necessary to notice the belly buttons? Is it b/c of the umbilical cord?

X THEIST.....carbon dating proved no such thing. In fact because the material deteriorated in such a manner that the holes all lined up perfectly left the scientists completely dumbfounded as to since when does something deteriorate and not spread to all of the fabric whereas these holes were basically isolated and located almost in a design. Also the scientists themselves said a high bursting of light may have been the cause of the imprint of the body being transferred on to the material. That light being a burst of life from God.

Lastly did you (the asker) think that perhaps in Gods perfect plan, He knew that Adam and Eve would give birth to Cain and Abel inwhich case the umbilical cord would be extremely necessary? Perhaps not.

The whole thing is a fraud. When I was a kid I went to Church in Indiana, and the preacher basically admitted to me that organized religion is the biggest scam in the world, they guilt you, and little old ladies into giving them money, then they go out and spend it, they don't even have to pay taxes. Put it to you this way The catholic church just payed out 600 millions dollars in a law suite, trust me they have way more then that. The pope lives in the biggest mansion ever seen, what happened to the vow of poverty? These churches demand more, and more cash, then they'll tell you that's what god wants you to do. But if you read the gospel according to Luke, Jesus broke a table full of cash basically telling people that you can not buy your way into heaven. That does not stop the church from asking for money though does it?

Just by the way, they never had belly buttons. the reason being they never had a natural birth and was never in a mother womb to need feeding through this string. Only their kids had. Just a boilogical thoery.

And don't believe all the pictures you see. Or else we might just drw you 500 years from now with two heads and people with no logical minds would believe it. DUDE NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE!!!! It's a freaken drawing. You call it human error!!! Chill OuT!!!!!!!

The pictures were made by artists, not necessarily God inspired artists. Nobody claimed that they were smart artists either. Most people are probably not going to even notice the belly button thing, so why take the time to change the picture?

I'm Pagan, so I'm not defending, I'm just using logic.

In our FAR more enlightened scientific and technological age, it is obvious that the Garden of Eve story was nothing but an allegory written for a people that had barely emerged from the hunter-gatherer stage. The AMAZING thing is that there still are people who are doltish and ignorant enough to take it literally!

laughing is good... this is your first step toward the truth of the matter of your creator... keep on laughing all the way to the truth... and sense you are at least looking at the pictures which is more than most of us do.... get a bible dictionary and a bible and look up the word "laugh", "Laughing" He Laughed" and She Laughed" you must use a cross reference bible.. because this will give you more situation where he or she laughed and why they laughed and what the out come was some was good and some was not so good...Now in your case it is good because you are not one of the aware ones but you can be... once you are aware of the truth.... you will always laugh with happiness of the knowledge of your once foolishness. Jehovah GOD and His Son Jesus is aware that " We need forgiveness because we simple are not aware of what we are going... So a body was prepared.... a babe was born... a message was given... and a life was given so that you can laugh and live to tell about... to others that once laughed... so go forth with GOD speed and get the books above..Please

Firstly, you saw a portrait not a picture -- had there been a
camera, who would have taken the picture. Secondly, a
portrait is the artists' perception, not necessarily fact --
who here can state stature or outward appearance, including
complexion/color and/or eye/lip shape ? Perhaps God created man to appear as he would be once the procreation feature kicked in.
