The Bible begins with "In the beginning, God ..."

Later, the Bible describes how people created false gods because they turned their back on the one True God.

The book of Romans even says that God gave them over to reprobate minds because they served the creature rather than the Creator and were unthankful in their hearts.

The book of Genesis (which I previously quoted from) was written by Moses, as a revelation directly from God to him. Somewhere during that 2,00 years (more-less), people started worshipping other gods - just look at the tower of Babel, for instance, when people started calling on the names of (other) gods.

So, in answer to your question, yes - these false gods existed before the Bible was actually written, but the writings of the Bible talk about a time prior to these false gods, which were/are nothing more than fallen angels (ie demons) who vie for worship and set themselves up as gods, even though they are not.

I hope this helps.

Before! If you read Genesis in the Bible you will see where Caine married a woman from the land of Nod. That proves that there were other groups on this planet before Adam and Eve. This is much more believable than a crockaduck or a perfect fruit like a banana!

Well, before the Bible. The Bible didn't exist until the Church universally canonized it in the late 4th century. If you are asking about the Pentateuch and the earliest Hebrew texts apart from the rest of the Bible, that is a more difficult question. I don't know the exact history on that. Further, I do not know how far back the oral tradition of the Hebrew Triune God goes. All I know is that I experience Him directly as Trinity.

The Pyramids of Egypt pre-date the Bible.

There are writings in the Pyramids about the Egyptian Gods.

Therefore, the Egyptian Gods pre-date the Bible.

Before. If the kind of proof that you are looking for is a book, the Hindu Rig Veda is the oldest book in the world. The Rig Veda is a collection of praises or mantras to deities therefore these deities must be older than the bible or the Hebrew Torah.

"... The Sanskrit word ric, which for euphonic reasons is changed to rig, means literally "praise". ... The Sanskrit word veda means literally "knowledge" or "wisdom". ... The Rig-Veda is the oldest book in the Sanskrit language, indeed in any Indo-European language. More than that, if we are correct, it is the oldest book in the world ... The fact that the Rig-Veda mentions a stellar configuration that corresponds to a date from 6000 B.C. to 7000 B.C. - the astronomical Ashvini era ..."

Others have already pointed out that the Egyptian pyramids which pre-date the bible have writings on them praising deities.

The roots of Christianity are through Judaism and older than that before Moses. The first scriptures came from God to Moses around 1500 BC prior to that God spoke directly to his people. Simply saying that Romans were before Christ doesn't tell tell whole story.

Is it impossible that God is so beyond our comprehension that a variety of ways of connecting have existed / will continue to develop? Jews and Christians are warned about false gods - particularly those that are internal or man-created. All methods of attempting to connect with God are vulnerable to this mistake (witness bad acts by Christians, indiscriminate Muslim suicide bombers, etc.) - but we are warned against these mistakes.

God exists and cares about you - seek to connect through whatever methods you can... Clues that you are on the wrong track: God does what you want and expect, glory comes to you and not to God, God loves only select individuals, etc.

God bless each of us with open hearts - so that we can see God's presence in and around us and embrace the Love.

The Bible is itself evidence of other Gods existing before it.

Why else would Yahweh demand that people worship "no other Gods before Him"???

The Bible speaks of Mammon, Baal, Asherah, Nebo, Appollyon, etc.

I mean most of the Old Testament is full of prophets trying to convince people not to worship local Gods (Canaan, Babylon, etc.).

What are you trying to prove/disprove?
