Surely He loved her, as He loved each of His disciples. He may have favored her. Personally, I doubt they were lovers in the physical sense.

But I will not deny the possibility. In fact it intrigues me. Jesus was a Jew, and as such, He would have valued marriage, and rearing a family. This in no way would have altered His message of love and redemption. It would only mean that there could be direct descendants of Him walking about the earth today.

What if? the person I held the door open for was a descendant.....what if the person I cut off in traffic was......
Intriguing.................

There's no Biblical indication there was more than friendship between Jesus and Mary M. We can be pretty sure they loved each other like a brother and sister. But in today's society, the word 'lover' indicates sexuality. Since Jesus did not sin, and was not married as far as the Bible tells us, it would not be possible for the two to have a sexual relationship.

In one of the non-canonical gospels, it says that Jesus was fond of her and kissed her, but there is no evidence that they were lovers or married. The Da Vinci Code is fiction.
