I do my own nails (so don't say french tips- I mess those up every time I try, no matter what techniques/products I use) I don't feel comfortable in colors, but I love nailpolish. I try to go very natural and it is dull. I go for pink and it is too cheesy. Any tips? (not clear: I need a color, because due to a childhood injury my hands look weird without a little bit to cover it up)

Here's how to determine your skin tone:

Warm skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear green.
2. Gold jewelry is more flattering than silver jewelry.

Cool skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear blue.
2. Silver jewelry is more flattering.

If you have a warm skin tone, then you will want colors that have a bit of yellow or brown in them - e.g. brick red.

If you have a cool skin tone, then you want colors that are more jewel like - e.g. ruby red or fuschia.

My favorite sheer pink is Essie's Sugar Daddy. You can layer it to make it more opaque & it's a quick way to make your nails look clean & natural.

My other favorite is Essie's Buy Me a Cameo - it's a shimmery taupe.

Ya I do my nails a lot, too. What I like doing best is painting them all black and then take a toothpick and put white dots on top! Everyone compliments them and it looks cool like dominos! If that is too extreme for you, do a light pink with white dots for a more subtle look.

How about a sheer pink with a little sparkle? Feminine, light & what girl doesn't love a little sparkle?..Also, I am sure that there are many more lighter colors with sparkles other than pink, if pink really isn't your color!

Good-Luck! : )

A light tan or beige would look good, along with a very light mauve.

always go for a wild color because it does the beat coverage.avoid any thing that says sheer because it will just take more coats to cover it. also avoid any thing that says quick drying because it contains extra acetone and it Will dry out your nails.hope i helped
