I know many of you hate two scenarios:

A) Something looks like a interesting question, but alas, you click on it and there are 1,000 + Characters with added details which are all Bible quotes.

B) You are attempting to read the answers to one of your questions, but alas, someone answers with 10+ Bible quotes which you must now scroll through.

Can we please minimize this?

Can Bible quoting be done only if there is a QUESTION about the actual passage? E.g. You dont understand exactly what a certain passage could mean and would like R&S'ers input. I think this type of questioning is very valid and adds to the community's purpose as a whole.

We could name it Quote-the-Books Rule (QBR) instead to inculde the Torah and Koran to be fair, but I dont really see too many of those types.

Vote?

Emperor Spaced Guy: Actually you asked if there were Vipers etc on Y!A today. That was your question. Not "what does this passage mean?".

I'm all for it. I think the Bible should be quoted ONLY if the question calls for it.

People probably won't follow the rule but I sympathize with you!

What I'm tired of is when I specifically ask for one's own opinion and/or facts with no bible quotes and I STILL get bible quotes.

I don't know how many times we have to spell it out.. Bible quotes are NOT PROOF of anything!!!

The first rule of Y!A is there are no rules. So no. That's just like the christians saying we should not make fun of their beliefs.

I do think that answers are allowed to be ridiculously long though, I have no idea why they are not limited just like the questions are... but that's a general rule, not a specific people-of-the-book thing.

I try to apply that rule myself. I try never to answer anything with scripture if it's not nessisary. And when I do answer with scripture, I try to keep it to 1-3 passages so there is a better chance of it being read.

How about we call it QSR (Quote SCRIPTURE Rule) so that it includes all Scripture considered Holy and not only the Bible?

You posted an answer to this question:

Then shortly after that you posted this question.

You complained about it in your answer however it was integral to my question about how christians should behave.

If I ask a question that pertains to christians am I not allowed to use bible verses?

-- Vipers and hypocrites comes from a bible verse. It is what Jesus called the Pharisees.

At any rate... I do AGREE in cases where it is not needed or fills up the entire page.

I would vote yes, but without accusing each other of twisting the bible, what would the atheists and christians have to talk about?

Well it would be nice, but it won't happen. I just give it a thumbs down so I don't have to look at it.

You have my permission to ignore the lengthy copy/paste answers. I don't read them either.

No, because many time people's opinions are different from what God tells us.

This would be taking ammo away from a lot of people. You do realize that, don't you?
