With the internet it is very easy to learn about science (going to ACTUAL scientific sites), politics, and just about anything. On top of that there are many different chat forums [and Yahoo Answers ; )] in which to engage in debate. There is so much to learn from, it used to be that you only learned from reading a book or from word of mouth, but now we live in an age where knowledge is broad casted over the internet.

darkness falls: And the ability to spell correctly is that which you lack....
it's called spell check, not that someone of intelligence would need spell check to spell knowledge and capacity right.

When they built the towel of Babel, they though they knew everything there was to know then too. Albert Einstein once asked a class how much of the total knowledge in the universe they thought we knew. The answers were in the 2 to 3% range. Einstein agreed. If we know so much, why can't we cure cancer? I guess we don't know it all. If we don't know it all, what's the chance God exists in the part we don't know? Belief in God takes faith. I have faith in God. You have faith in Yahoo. I guess we both have our own God.

Why can't you have both? Asking this, to a religious person anyway, is like asking "Does love belong in an age where ration is at your fingertips?" Or "Is entertainment necessary when there is so much work to do?" All the knowledge in the universe, at least as far as has been shown so far, does not take care of your spiritual self. And what scientific site can really explain love or fun or jealousy or literature or symbolism or art or give meaning to your life?
I am not arguing against science and knowledge at all. I think these things are very important. But it is silly to believe that "actual" scientific sites can explain all our problems or provide all the solutions to everything. There is no mathematical formula that will cure all the world's fears. If there was, the wouldn't science be making our world a better place? 1% of the people still own 95% of the world's resources. Hunger and poverty are raging rampant. Political quagmire slows down progress, with or without science and/or religion. Technology has turned us into television-watching zombies that don't do anything, while creating weapons of mass destruction that can wipe us out. Great. All praise science!
Meanwhile, compassion, understanding, and love are necessary for our survival; and many people get these from religion. Although I would never argue that YOU should rely on religion to find your place in the world, I see absolutely no reason to take that away from others just because you can use science to find out the answer to your math problems or questions on physics or chemistry or whatever else you may be seeking. The truth is that science and religion are two entirely different things, and you can have both.

Religion has no place in an educated and mature society as it is a superstitious hangover from an era when people thought the earth was the centre of the universe. Since religion is psychological rather than rational, many people prefer the comfort of fantasy by living in denial about the real world and our place in the universe. Sad but true.

So you believe a person should just pick n choose the type of God they want, and then just pull him out of a drawer when needed?
Well, I think God would have a problem with that. In fact, since he states it is for that very attitude, that when he returns He will be carrying a big iron rod. Gee, I wonder what thats for? You figure it out.

No, religion is nothing more than a mind control cult to keep scared little children amused, in line, and obeying commands.

Most of the knowledge I see on here is from uneducated idiots...
There are very few people on here who shed knowledge. Most of it is opinion.
I'll stick to books.
