speeding ticket in NY.?

I read that if you pay $5 over your ticket, you will get a refund from the court but if you dont cash it you wont get any points on your license. Is this true?

Nope.... you will get points unless you get it thrown out / dismissed in court or attend some authorized driver improvement school.
