God is, by nature (i.e. the Trinity), a social being. He wanted a creation to fellowship with him, thus, he created Adam. Being as humans are made in God's image, Adam was naturally a social being, and God, seeing that Adam did not have anyone of his own kind to fellowship with, Eve was created.

If you believe the biblical version of creation as related in Genesis, God did not create from need but from desire that Adam and Eve go forth and multiply (populate the Earth) via reproduction.
According to Qabalism which is Jewish mysticism God's creation (or the cosmos) is necessarily imperfect because it is a distortion/magnification from the ideal.
Scientifically, the populating of the Earth and Creativity are evolutionary processes, therefore imperfect.

God is our Father. He is the father of our spirits. He wanted us to be happy, and progress, so in order to do that we needed to get a body. The earth was created (formed) and populated to accomplish this. The creation was perfect. But more importantly, Adam & Eve had free will. Adam and Eve were told if they transgressed and ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil that they would die (both physically, death, and spiritually, cast out from the presence of God). God knew this would happen of course, and prepared a way to remove both death (resurrection) and sin (redemption).

It stands to reason, the human mind is, way to primitive to understand the answer. Biblical accounts and reasoning, were recorded in the only way very primitive minds could comprehend. The very simplest of terminology had to be used. Attempt to explain some very advanced mathamatical concept to a child of perhaps only a couple of years in age. You have a similar differencial of understanding to deal with.

Like one answer provided in the list, we are attempting to explain something beyound our understanding. However for those persons with a capacity to dig deeper into imagination, select groups of different answers and try them out. In this way you are thinking more like a researcher in a lab some place. Discard all the answers which show little or no merit, then go back and rethink about the remaing possibilities. Can you find even the slightest trace of a "hint"? Consider for example, all animal life has similar basic parameters. Food, shelter, and reproduction. Plant life follows a similar path with of course different time limitations. Dosen't this suggest, a pattern? If indeed we were made in the G-d's images, dose it not stand to reason, they were not some form of "Zylon).... ( Battle Star Glactica.... Ha ha).... Think about it. Now consider since we are suppose to be like the G-ds that made us, they may very well have some of the same concepts mentioned earlier. Recall, food shelter and reproduction. Put your self in the place of some "supreme being", suggest, perhaps a modeler of dolls or other human activities, such as cars, trains or boats. A hobby for us, but in a certain way of thinking, a supreme being for that particular model of choice. Consider further, with our limited abilities, we as a race of beings are attempting to create inteligent Robots...

Now go back and rethink the question, and perhaps scratch your thinking process....

Submitted for what it might be worth...

God created Adam and Eve to bring about the establishment of the human race. As people, we are not mere creatures or other animal species. We are God's children not just his pets or creatures and he has given us this earth life as an opportunity for learning and experience. He wants us to choose to be where He is. Here are some bible verses that back this up:

"all of you are children of the most High."(Psalms 82:6)

"Ye are the children of the Lord your God" (Deut. 14:1)

"Ye are the sons of the living God" (Hosea 1:10)

"we are the offspring of God" (Acts 17:29)

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."
(Romans 8:16 - 17)

No, just in man's understanding of it. God doesnt have to need anything and still desire to create it. Every creation was created perfectly but Satan's main goal is to corrupt and/or destroy what God has created.

A local Pastor believes that God created Adam and Eve to battle Satan through love. God banished Satan to Earth. Satan took all his hate and cruelty with him to Earth. In order to take back the Earth, God instructed Adam and Eve to love and multiply, to battle Satan by battling our sin. Humans will prevail if we love, forgive and not give in to our sinful nature.

I dont think anyone ever thought perfection and creation are synonyms. But if the creator is perfect then wouldn't the creation be perfect also?

God created man, so that he would have someone to truely worship him and spend time with him. Well what about the angles? Well unlike us humans angels do not have a free will, yet we do. So God wanted someone to worship him for who He is and to do it freely not being forced to. Because that my friend is true love. So why did God create mankind....well thats easy...he wanted someone to love him as much as he loves us.
