Both claim to believe in the "One True God."

Both claim that God has inspired their Holy Book.

When flaws are found in that book, they claim that it is meant to be taken metaphorically, or a misreading, or taken out of context.

Both claim the "extremists" are not really of their faith.

Just wondering if you see the similarities?

This may be true with other religions, but these are the two I've debated recently.

They have difficulty seeing the forest for all the darn trees.

That's why I place all religious fundamentalists in the same camp.

The Quran and the Bible have many of the same beliefs because both are based on God/Allah. The Quran has a lot of books in there that is not in the Bible but many of the same stories and history.o f the Bible and vise-versa. The main difference in the Quran and the Bible is Jesus. While the Muslims believe in Jesus they do not believe he was the Son of God sent as the Messiah. They believe he was a very special prophet of God. Christians of course believe Jesus was the Messiah and he came to save us from our sins through his blood. Christians are waiting for the second coming of Christ, while the Muslims are waiting for the first.

For centuries these two have been fighting, or at least made up as the cause for wars from warmongers. Many countries use the name of their religion to gain grounds for war. When they are really just using the religion as a way to more power. You can use a man in war if they believe its what God wants them to do. It's been a manipulation used for centuries. I do not believe either one is an extremist. I believe there are many (bothsides) who get used by convincing leaders who are in the religion for ground gaining. To build armies. Many Muslims do not believe in the war efforts of any sort, many Christians feel the same way. But just like as a Christian, when you are young or unaware of the whole teachings of the Bible, others can come along and convince you there are things God wants us to do that are not true. Same goes with the Muslims. Take Waco for instance, or a suicide bomber for the flip side.

Perhaps, sometimes we do. However, even the Koran is more tolerant of other religions than the Bible is. At one point in the Koran, it says that even Jews and Christians can go to heaven, because they believe in the God of Abraham. The Bible, however, says that Jesus is "the way, the truth and the life" and that "no one can come unto the Father except by" Him.

As far as the flaws go, most of the "contradictions" really aren't, though some actually were/are errors committed by scribes.

And by the way, I am a Christian.

There are subtle differences. I will give you a few.
1) Christians don't go around killing people just because they are of a different demonination or religion. Muslims, on the other hand, at least in the middle east, routinely stone people to death for minor crimes, or cut the heads off of non-believers.

2) The majority of the Muslims don't speak out against their radical nutjobs. When a chrisitan radical nutjob carries out a crime or attacks a person, or even protests a soldier's funeral, the vast majority of christians tell him to shut up and to stop what he's doing.

The main difference is that for Christians and Jews, God is a god of peace, who righteously defends his people. YWHW is a close God who takes care of his people.

Allah, as far as I can tell, doesn't even pay attention to his people and even stays away from them. He is a distant god that only pays attention when they kill people.

YHWH and Christ say that slavery is only a temporary thing and that after so much time, they must be freed.
Muslim's believe in the practice of slavery and are even trying to import it to our shores.

I tend to believe that we are two sides of the same coin. Christians being the tolerant and protective people, and Muslims (Radicals,) being the destroyers of life, freedom, and happiness.

But that is only my opinion.

Except what we do with Jesus Christ is completely different. The Muslims believe an imposter died in his place and that he was just another prophet.

I was at a panel where a Muslim and a Catholic tried to convince the audience they were the same religion. However, the audience did not buy it! The audience kept trying to raise the differences and the Muslim and Catholic majorly sidestepped the issues. There are some similarities, but the major watershed is Jesus. You cannot get around him.

When you deal with religous fanatasism, there are no winners.
If America let its religous zealots run the government we would be in the same chaos as the Islam countries have been for centuries.

It may be true that there is only one true god and ....think about this....he/she is probably the god for BOTH religons and is getting a little Pissed off and the killings in his name.

Yes. Islam is one of the few monotheistic religions and theyre going to have the same struggles we do as Christians trying to spread their message to a lost world.

NO, Muslims are not anything like us. First of all God is a loving God and He wants all of us to accept him and Muslims belive in this now bear with me. My youth minister told me this: "In there book clearly written, it says that Christians should be killed no exceptions." Its horrible, but true. And that is why they persecute Christians who live in country's like Afghanistan.

Yes, there are similarities, in the way you're looking at it, which is why one needs "eyes to see," and "ears to hear," and a "heart of flesh" to understand.

Indeed, there are similarities:

1) Both religions claim to be the religion of the One true G-d, and they are wrong.

2) Both religions are fervently proselytizing.

3) Both religions claim that you need to be one of them in order to save your soul.

4) Both religions killed (or still kill) in the pursuit of their goals.

5) Both religions take elements from Judaism and distort them.

6) Both religions include Paganistic elements.
