I am a 1953 dodge and I don't have brake lights.

You better get 'em fixed, it came from the factory with brake lights.
My first car was a 1934 Ford and it had brake lights. About 1962 it became mandatory to have a brake light on each side at the back.

Something is not right. My 1936 Ford..Restored and NOT first owned..not THAT old. had brake lights???

Back then it was not a requirement back then . there wasnt so many people tailgating as it is now. you know its only to show the people behind you that you are stopping..
