I do. However, the issue is not about stem cell research! The debate is over embryonic stem cell research. The real question is whether a human has a right to take the life of another in order to do research in order to someday find a cure. No one is against using adult stem cells for cures. Actually, they have been shown to hold the most promise for future cures. Currently, adult stem cells have yielded over 60 cures whereas embryonic stem cells have yielded very few cures that I know of. I am all for stem cell research as long as we are not destroying embryos to do so.

What kind of stem cell research are you talking about?

You do know that there are different kinds, don't you? There is the research done on so-called "adult" stem cells that has actually produced viable therapies. And there is the research performed on "embryonic" stem cells that has come up with, well, nothing. And the worst part about the whole embryonic stem cell thing is that there are millions and millons of these cells pitched every day after childbirth (umbillical cords are FULL of them!!), but researchers are only going after the cells that they can only get by destroying a human life.

I'm totally cool with stem cell research as long as it doesn't destroy a human life. So adult stem cells = cool by me. Embryonic cells from umbilical cords = cool by me. Stem cells harvested in such a way that they kill unique human beings = NOT cool by me.

Stem cell research does not bother me, as long as they are not Embryonic stem cells- which I understand are not as effective anyway- I have no problem with using Adult Stem Cells. Nobody has to be killed for adult stem cells.

I think that if the Media would focus on more than just the Embryonic Stem Cell research, then there would be less opposition, but all anyone hears about is Embryonic and that is what most are opposed to.

I would like to be, if it is need. SADLY religious people will do whatever they can to prevent stem cell research from making major benefits to those who need it.
They ASSUME that saying a prayer will "cure" someone. HA!

Assuming this is a plug for embryonic stem cell "research," you do realize that there are alternatives, right?

I don't have anything wrong with me that would require it at the moment. If I did, sure I'd go for it.
