Is this your personal experience ?
If so, would you care to share a little ?
Please note - I asked a similar q some time ago, but received little response. Perhaps the response will be better with an airing on YA "prime time".
Thanks in advance, blessings.

Sure. Be glad to.
(And to rescue righteous Lot) "...who had been oppressed by the licentious manner of life of the lawless (for that righteous man, who settled down among them, in seeing and hearing tormented his righteous soul day after day with their lawless works)" 2 Peter 2:7 & 8.
Does society have that effect on you, also ?

It's chilling to realise the insidious effect the media has on our view of morality. We are being rendered insensitive the more we expose ourselves to godless standards and ways of thinking / speaking / acting. Some things that would have shocked me 10 years ago are now so common-place that I fear I hardly notice. Recently I was visiting friends who wanted to watch the latest episode of "Rome" (which I'd studiously avoided). As I sat there in front of the TV I felt sullied by the scenes. For days after I wished I had not been present. It (and 2 Peter 2:8) serves to remind me that every generation can be mired in a cesspit of depravity, not just in our day!
In 1968 an elderly Christian from Valdres in Norway had a vision of future events which accord perfectly with Bible prophecies. She did not share this vision till 30 years later (when in her 90s). Some of the events prior to Christ's return were compromise and apathy in the churches; ignoring the message of law and grace, sin and the Gospel, repentance and salvation. A substitute prosperity gospel would be preached. Materialism would dominate. Entertainment and cultural experience would increase. There would be a moral collapse with uncleanness before marriage and unfaithfulness between spouses (and other things she was too embarrassed to detail). There would be an enormous increase of TV stations and programmes with an explosion of violence resulting in an escalation of crime, such that people would not feel safe to walk the streets. Likewise with radio. People would view and listen to scenes of death and destruction, evil and wickedness that would influence society. And it would be considered entertainment, and exciting. She was glad she would not live to see it. We are in that time now.

Yes. This blanket statement obviously doesn't apply across the board, but in such large measure that I don't feel I need to temper it. Go to the grocery store, the park, anywhere, the girls and women are half naked. Overhear young people talking in a restaurant and count the number of times the f***ing is used as an adjective. Try to watch a movie, many TV programs, advertising, same thing. Every moral value in the Bible has become a laughingstock in our culture and it does sometimes get one down.
When I was young and without faith, my contemporaries did not have this new "in your face" anger and arrogance and defiance. I fear for the future.

I always like to get a running start into a verse (as the Bible was not originally written in Chapter/Verse)
2Pe 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
2Pe 2:2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;
2Pe 2:3 and in {their} greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
2Pe 2:4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;
2Pe 2:5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
2Pe 2:6 and {if} He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing {them} to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly {lives} thereafter;
2Pe 2:7 and {if} He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men
2Pe 2:8 (for by what he saw and heard {that} righteous man, while living among them, felt {his} righteous soul tormented day after day by {their} lawless deeds),
2Pe 2:9 {then} the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,

Well, hi there Carl Partis, good question!
I wish it was this way all the time, but frequently I am disgusted with the rampant sin of our society, at times even to the point of feeling physically ill.
I like Suzanne's answer, before I received sight I was a blind sinner too, and I'm never more disgusted with sin than I am with my own.

It's not my intent to sound "holier than thou," but rarely a day goes by that I don't think of this verse. The increase of lawlessness and total disrespect for God often makes me feel like poor Lot. I can also identify with Noah, a "preacher of righteousness," who was surrounded by sinners. I often wonder how many of us are at work building our metaphorical arks, as he was ...
But yet, we are commanded to persevere. Before I gained sight, I too was a blind sinner!
EDIT: Hi, CMW! <>

If I am understanding your question correctly--yes I have experienced this. Being tormented or just tired of the immorality & stuff that go on in the world.
The lack of knowledge about God and what he wants for us --and what he expects of us. I am so amazed at the lack of knowledge about the Word of God and what it says. Sometimes I honestly feel that there are atheists that know more about what the Bible says than suposed Christians
