Am i gonna be stuck there all four years? jesus, I hear B52s get deployed to guam, so i'm gonna try to stay there as long as possible. and Can I sign up for overseas as soon as I get there like Korea? or do i need to wait a year to do that?

Yes, you will be there for at least 4 years. That is the required time on station before you are eligible for a reassignment. And, as a B-52 Crew Chief, you've got Minot and Barksdale... those are your choices! They are the only 2 bases that have buffs permanently stationed.
As for Minot, we just left there last summer after 4 years, and LOVED it. Great if you are an outdoorsman. They have all 4 seasons, and summer is NOT very hot! Winters are great, the cold really is not that bad. Best part about the winter is that it gets so cold that it kills everything, so allergies aren't too bad! Close to Canada if you like to travel. Bismarck is only an hour away if you want a bigger city. Schools are awesome and people are great!! If you're lucky, you'll see the Northern Lights!
Biggest complaint - mosquitoes are huge and deadly. And not a lot of places to go out to eat.
Enjoy your time and make the most out of your assignment. It could be worse!!

Yes, you will be assigned there for 4 years. You could try to get to Korea for the one year tour, but with the Air Force making 4 year CONUS assignments, you might not get out of it that easily. The only thing you could do is volunteer for tdy's anywhere in the world.
Unfortunatly, B52's aren't at every base, so you are kinda stuck where those planes are located. Now if you were admin or a SF, that is totally different.
The earliest you could applie is a year on station, but even then, you could still get stuck with Minot after Korea. Remember, if you leave, someone has to take your spot. When you are due to leave Korea, someone else might be like you and want out of there, and they might send you back to Minot. I am not sure how many bases are around that have B-52's assigned to them, so you could do 20 years and end up at Minot again.
Just be glad your not on the AWACS, they have three bases they can be stationed at, not including any tdy locations.

I' a 16 CC and I was sent to my first duty station in SC, and was there almost the whole 4 first ears I enlisted. Then I got sent to Korea for a year. So are you going to be stuck there yeah there is a good chance, but you have to have at least a year and a half on station if your a new airman before you can get orders. You can put in for orders before then but you may not get them. You cant sign up for an overseas post unless your AFSC has overseas duty stations, and last I knew Buff's didn't. There is a chance for you to go overseas, and it is a slim chance but it's really the only shot you have and that is to apply for a TA spot(TA= Transient Alert).

Go to the AFKN Portal and ask someone. Don't know about the AFKN? Contact WPAFB and ask about it.
