No they are not..it will burn them out..Now some gas grills have where you need to put stone briquettes or lava rocks in..search on the internet for your model..Now..if you never never plan on buying propane for it at all..you can use charcoal in it other than just letting it set and rust...

What you're seeing in the propane grills are lava rocks...what's the point of buying propane if you still have to purchase and use charcoal? Read the instruction manual if you're unsure if you need or should put anything in the grill.

Those are fake briquettes. They are there to keep the grease from clogging up the burners, plus distribute the heat after they get heated up.

No - Some have "Lava Rocks, but usually it's just the propane that cooks
