It all depends on where you live. If you are in 'hurricane or tornado alley', it would be MUCH different than in a state where risk of damage were far lower.

I live in Wisconsin, where damage risks are relatively low, and I insure my $300,000 home for less than $1,000 annually. That would NOT be the case in Florida.
