Give her an ice pop or ice cube to suck on right before you give the medicine. It will numb her tongue enough so she shouldn't taste it. Get a dosing syringe from the pharmacy - it looks like one you'd give a shot with, but no needle. Have her hold her nose as you shoot the medicine as far into her mouth as you can without her gagging. (maybe practice with plain water first so she won't spit it out.) Follow it immediately with a good-tasting treat of some kind.

Call your pharmacist and ask if there is any other form of the medication that you can get for her. If you are going to a big chain, they might not help you, so try a small, independent pharmacy. I have a friend who is a pharmacist, and he can use different flavorings to mask certain odors. Or, he might be able to super-concentrate the formula so it's just a few drops that you squirt into the back of her throat with a dropper.
Pharmacists usually have great ideas for these situations.

If it is a prescription, ask your pharmacy to make it into flavors that are much better to swallow and could help. The idea of mixing it in like in ice cream or Jello sounds a good way to go! I hear your pain, I would be in the same pain to hold my baby down to do her good.

Depending on what the medicine is and where you live, there are some pharmacies that have flavoring to add to liquid medication. It's not available everywhere and there is a charge for it. You can call around to see if there are any pharmacies near you that offer it. Good luck!

I also know how it can be difficult.
When it happened to my daughter , we had to go back to the doctor quickly after, and the doctor told her that it was really important that she takes the medecine, he said "it's not your parents but me who is asking you to take the medecine, because it is important. If you don't they'll call me".
I must admit that it also motivated us as parents to be firm and self-confident.
I realize this might not be of much help for you.
Maybe now it's reached a point where it is difficult to reason her.

Tell her that you will go to the toy store and buy her a stuffy after she takes her medicine, or a lollipop, or a Barney video or something. Bribe her into things like that...
Hope I have helped!
P.s. If she won't eat her vegetables, tell her that she will get a lollipop or something, then when she wont eat anymore tell her how the other vegetables (whatever they are) are lonely and need all of their friends in their tummy. Thats what my mom did and it worked!

target and walgreens sell flavoring that can be added to prescription medications for like $1.99 a script. To get the kids to take it I would say it is worth it.

try mixing it in with some ice-cream or something like that when she doesnt expect it. Or you could bribe her, saying if she takes it everyday for a week, you will buy her a toy at the end of the week

try mixing it with something she really enjoys or try squeezing her nose shut and giving it to her.
But usually something sweet will change the taste of it or ask your
pharmacist for a flavored one they will usually have one in stock..
