Whatever your four year old is into! But don't spend a small fortune on a cute party.
I would buy colored plates and napkins at the dollar store, print coloring sheets on line, Make goodie bags with paper bags. Your four year old can decorate the bags.
Last year I did a pool party. I had several kiddie pools, a slip and slide and one of those wacky sprinklers.
To eat, I ordered pizza from little ceasers and put chips, cookies, and trail mix in beach pails with shovels to scoop out food. I got the pails and shovels from the dollar store as well.
Just be creative!!!

My son loves the cars movie and sponge bob. I would go with their favorite cartoon character. At 4 years old he should be able to tell you what he likes. Take him shopping for the party supplies and let him pick out what he likes. If you do not want to take him shopping go to a few party supply sites on the computer and let him pic out a few he likes to give you an idea on what theme to pick

Boy or girl? What do they like? My neice is 3 and is into Dora the Explorer and anything to do with Disney princesses. For a boy? Maybe Spiderman.

the best theme is the one they like. we get a birthday party catalog in the mail with all kinds of birthday party themed items like plates, napkins and such. we give it to the birthday boy or girl and ask which one she likes. check online for a birthday party supply company and get them to send you a catalog.

It depends on the gender. For a girl maybe dogs or a popular tv show they like. For boys, its all about superheros and trucks. Good luck!

for a girl, I suggest a magical party with princesses (cinderella, belle, etc).... castles...
for a boy I suggest a super hero party , spiderman, batman themed.
