Consulate is for trade relations while Embassy is for diplomatic relations. Embassy is better because it is headed by an Ambassador who can decide in behalf of the country that he represents unlike a consul who has a limited power.

Basically is the same thing, but the embassy is always in the capital of the country, and the consulates in other cities. Like there's a US Embassy in Madrid, Spain and a US Consulate in Barcelona, Spain.

Embassy is legal entity and body of one country in another state, Embassy is located in Capital city where Ambassador overview and manage all affairs, While Consulates are Branches of Embassy, and they are headed by Consulate Generals who directly report to Ambassador, These branches are in other big cities, more likely in Metropolitan or Cosmopolitan cities

A permanent diplomatic mission is usually known as an embassy, and the person in charge of the mission is known as an ambassador. Missions between Commonwealth countries are known as High Commissions and their heads are High Commissioners.
Consular Section
Consular sections are responsible for assisting and protecting overseas citizens in distress, processing visa applications, and issuing and renewing passports.
