I am 22 and I take salsa dancing lessons, I will attend my first group lesson tomorrow. I am terrified of how the women there will react to me. I feel like the fact that I am even there will turn them off, even though I am a good salsa dancer with the little training I have had so far.

My confidence in myself is really low. I can't convince myself that girls want to meet guys anywhere but a bar or wild college party and only want guys who are thugs or drink alot. I just want to know if it is even possible for a girl to feel anything for me, given my salsa dancing skills?

If you have taken a salsa class before, PLEASE don't tell me about how there were more guys than girls there, that has got me worried enough already.

OMG!!! I think it's awesome that you can dance!!! I'm totally jealous! I WISH I had the time. Any guy that can dance, is automatically HOT in my book. Don't worry about going to this class. Show off your skills and be proud. Chicks'll dig it. Everyone loves someone with confidence, and you're lucky this is an area where you can shine. I almost wish I could go with you. I LOVE to dance but don't have the time. Someday.....

Break a leg!!!

That is a perfect scenario for meeting a girl while both of your heads are still screwed on. Most women love a man that can move (just like we think that a girl that can move her body on the dance floor can also move it in bed!). Since I think that most group salsa classes require you to switch partners all the time, you get to meet a lot of girls very quickly in a 'safe' way (=no pressure). And you get to touch them as well!

I went to take some salsa classes with my girlfriend and there more women then men, so some of the girls had to rotate out during the pair dancing and wait for the guys. There were a lot of cute girls there, and I was not being flirty (just my normal friendly relaxed self), but we still had a fight because some of the girls started flirting with me.

You are set up for a great experience, especially if you already know the basics since you will not be stepping all over their feet, or your own.

I've never ever taken a salsa class before but I was once in ballet class. Male ballet dancers are quite a rarity and in the dance company my teacher owned, there was only one ballerino out of the whole lot. Because he advanced quicker and was even more graceful and stronger than the rest of us, he won the respect of everyone rather than the reputation of 'Drag queen in the making'. Some of the ballerinas felt quite attracted to him, I could tell, although they'd never admit it to me (I was hardly even eleven at that time!)

So, from what you've said about being a fairly good dancer what with the little training you have, I believe that if you persist and if you impress with your learning attitude, you will prevail. One thing that attracts girls is CONFIDENCE. A bad boy has tons of reassured confidence and he's not afraid to show it (even if he does get egotistical!). How else do you suppose the ladies go after bad boys?

So, get your confidence up and put on them salsa shoes! It's time to rock the dance studio!!

You can meet people this way. The important thing is that you enjoy salsa dancing and go and have a good time. Do not worry about how the women will react to you. Just have a good time and you will have no problem. People want to be around people that have fun, so as long as you are having a good time it will show. :)

Hubby and I took dance lessons, and there was such a shortage of guys, some girls had to dance with instructors! Remember, in most group lessons, you are encouraged to dance with everyone. That way the more experienced dancers help out the newbies, and all the girls learn how to follow the guy! Go for the lessons and have a blast!

I think girls love guys that can dance. Go enjoy the classes, I was never a dancer and I know I wouldn't have had much to do with girls that were interested in drunks and thugs. Dance, enjoy, the other guys will be jealous of you when they see how many girls at the clubs want to dance with you...

If you are going there to pick-up or scope-out the girls, then they'll be able to tell and they might even resent the reason you are there.

My advice: Don't go there looking to get lucky. Go there to have fun dancing. If you don't go with any expectations other than having an enjoyable dance lesson, then you have a better chance to get lucky.
Even if you don't get a girl from the lesson, you at least have fun. If you go with the expectation of getting lucky, and it doesn't happen, then you'll probably be disappointed and not get lucky.

Life is what you make of it.

RELAX!! Dance classes are fun, and you will gain confidence in your skills. Mostly there are more girls than guys in group classes, and you will meet a lot of different people with varying ages and interests.

Dance is about having fun. So relax and have fun!

There is nothing sexier than a dude that can move! Rarely ever do you hear: "I met the love of my life at a frat party!" Rough "thug" masculinity may be attractive in a primal, caveman sort of way, but it doesn't make for good relationships.
