with dating you date eachother, but you can also date other people. Bf/Gf is an exclusive relationship where you dont see other people.

Some people use the terms interchangably...for others dating doesn't imply exclusivity where bf/gf does.
You can date anyone (someone you've known a long time or just met)...but a bf or gf is going to be (typically) someone you know well and have been going out with or spending time with for a while and gotten to know one another.

Actually, there is a difference. When you're dating, you go on dates like, to the movies, park, etc but you're not gf/bf. But the gf/bf thingy is totally different. When you date, you can still go out with other people, cause you're not exactly bf and gf and when you are bf and gf, no moe seeing other people.

dating is when you are going out on dates, but not formally bf/ gf, just go out together and do things together, and at that point, dating other people is not wrong if you are dating around. now bf/gf is when you are beyond dating and are in a relationship and are more serious and exclusive with one another, (well should be anyway)

It means something different to everyone...but...this is my personal definition.
DATING: If you are dating someone...then your going out on occasion. You like to be in their company. But your not committed to them. You still have to call and reserve time to be with them and your still in a stage when you ask the other person out on dates.
BF/GF: Dating is included in this, Plus...i only call a guy my boyfriend when we've been out long enough to just assume that on weekends we are definately doing something together. When he doesn't have to ask "can I see you again this friday"...instead you just know it's going to happen. And that if I want to go over to his house (or vice versa) then your pretty much always welcome...you don't always have to be dressed up.
My best friend only calls a guy her boyfriend when she feels comfortable enough to be over at his house, go to his fridge without asking and get a snack. She thinks that if your THAT comfortable it's a boyfriend....if your not, then it's dating.
However....relationships don't often downgrade...if you went from dating to being bf/gf...and now back to dating then I think it's time to dump him. It probably means that he's got his eye on someone else too and he doesn't want to be committed so that he won't feel guilty when he flirts with someone else too.

Dating means yall are free to date others
that there is nothing serious as a relationship(bf/gf) between yall. That is usually used at the beginning when there is still so much unknown
Really its a way for him to try and go out with other girls while still being with you.

It is the exact same thing. It's so stupid too. My friend is just like that with his girl. They're not allowed to see anyone else, act just like a couple, but they don't have the title of bf/gf. He says he doesn't want the title because you get too much drama or possibly too much commitment like you have to end up married. I think it's stupid and pointless and I will never really understand it. But if you're not bothered by it too much, I'd just let it go and not worry about it. However, if it does upset you, then you need to talk to him about it and either end whatever you two have if he doesn't agree to the title, or just get used to it.

There is definitely a difference. Boyfriend/Girlfriend relationships are exclusive. If you are just dating then you have the freedom to see other people. If you were already together at one point then someone must be wanting to weigh some other options.
