good question. Most burglaries occur during the day or in the morning. Smart burglars know when their prey go to work and if they have a dog or an alarm. They do stake outs. When the family or person leaves for work. They go in and wipe the place out. Night is actually a much safer time and occurs less.

Actually from what I've heard the reverse is true. More burglaries take place during the day because most potential victims as well as any potential witnesses are often at work or school. Mostly they will disguise themselves as home repair men or meter readers then once they get to a backdoor or back window kick it in.

Most happen during the day. Most thief's don't want anyone to be around. Night time just means that someone is going to be home asleep.

Statistically, most B&E's occur between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm, for the reasons others have already quoted here.

It usually depends on something opportunistic, like poor lighting around the house, no burgler bars, insufficient locks, etc., not the time of day or night.
