He is wrong for laughing at you. You will get a heck of a lot more out your encounter than six flags could ever give. The cost of the encounter is about the same for a single ticket to six flags. If you were to look at it as an investment, you will get a much greater return, both in the short term and long term, from your experience at the encounter.
I am no expert but that is how I feel. email me if you want to carry this on

You need to decide what your priority is. Encounters are good, and so is spending time with family and friends.
What the actual choices were is not the issue, however. What I see is a person looking for other people to support her in her decision making, and is worried about what others will think of her for it.
The real issue is that you are insecure in your choice and need to work on that.

No. I've never had family laugh at me for going to church, but I've had other people laugh at me for it.
Between you and me and the R&S crowd, learning about God isn't a bad thing, and this sounds like something you were led to do. The key to making the most of this, is to invite your brother to go to church with you, and if he says "no," don't berate him, but simply ask him the next sunday.
I had a friend who kept refusing to go to church, and I didn't know until later that he was watching my reactions to his refusal. He expected me to be just like his dad and call him a sinner for not going. Years later, when we met again, he was a deacon in his church and told me that I was his role model for what a christian should be. He said, "When my dad yelled at me for not going to church, you quietly said, "okay," and went anyway. It was your daily meditations and your actions that led me to doubt myself and eventually go to church again."
All I can say, is I am now glad that I didn't treat him as if he were an idiot. I'd have lost a good friend, and he wouldn't be with God today.

Your brother was wrong. You can go to six flags anytime. You have chosen to be like Mary and sit at Jesus' feet instead of being like Martha, all caught up in worldly concerns. God bless you and your decision. I pray the service will bring you closer to God!

Your brother is immature and scared - that is why he laughed at you. Don't worry about it. Next time don't tell him why you changed your mind on doing something, it is really none of his business.

It's a matter of your own priorities--Its your choice. I admire you for putting your faith first. Sometimes that is the hardest thing to do.
