I have seen the lake of fire, it exists in the form of a pressureless Volcano, and appears in the first episode of Living Planet.

There were no souls there, does it upset the idea of there being no eternal punishment?

I asked wether the idea would upset you, not wether you could insult me. Can you maybe turn the other cheek and give me a straight answer, as I would to you?

What is upsetting is that you can talk so lightly of something so terrible and awful.

What would give me immense joy would be if I might be given to help to rescue any from that most unendurable judgement.

And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

God is so pure that in the brightness of His glory He is likened to fire. His angels are made as spirits and His ministers a flame fire. Do you have that purity to stand in His presence?

If you are spotted by the flesh would you not be burnt?

While you yet have oppoortunity seek His cleansing.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

sorry for all the insults, but people (particularly people on-line) don't tend to handle offense well, and some people seam to mistake insulting other ideas with supporting there own. this is not a religious characteristic, but a people one, especially when things they like are binge poked

so the lake of fire thing, did you think that maybe there are 2 lakes, or that souls are invisible, or that lake of fire is a figurative way to describe a real place, so no I'm not offended, but I'm glad your asking questions, seek truth

The soul dies at death and the bible does not teach that people are punished eternally in a lake of fire. So, no the thought does not upset me. Contrarily, the notion of a loving God punishing people for eternity upsets me because it badmouths Gods name and dishonours him. " God is love" (1 John 4:8). Teaching such as eternal suffering of the immortal soul are all part of Satans great plan to mislead people and stop them worshiping Jehovah. Revelation 12:9 "the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth". 2 Corinthians 4:4 "blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through."

As an open-minded Agnostic, I am curious what will happen after death and will be open-minded about whatever I encounter there. Then and only then will God and I - presuming we exist - judge one another... You lie if you say you do not, patronizing silly people, for if you presume God is this way or that, then you are PREJUDICED for or against an image of God that may be utterly incorrect! Judge not til ye be judged!

In the meantime, I will pray that, since there are about a million various sects to fail to follow perfectly, God is not so damn picky.

Why do you assume that it would upset me if everyone made it to Heaven? Do you think that we just made up the idea of hell just to annoy people like you?

But if it is false idea that everyone makes it to Heaven, then there is no point in giving people false hope by telling them a lie. If they are going to Hell, and there is still time to change it, then they need to know the truth so that they can make the right choice.

It depends on how you believe. I believe when you die, you body decays and your living breath is vanquished until the second coming of Christ. Rev. 1:7 Look for he cometh in the clouds and every eye shall see him. Even those who pierce him. Good and Evil people will rise at the same time, the people in Christ shall rise first and those who are saved will meet them in the clouds. However, the time of judgment for the wicked will take place, and their punishment will take place when the new earth will be created and satan and all his followers will be destroyed with fire and brimstone. Read the bible if you have anymore questions. Everyone believes differently. Good Luck!!

No it does not upset the idea. You have seen a lake of fire, but not the lake of fire.Of course you didn't see any souls there, how would you be able to see a soul anyway?

Some Popes changed the bible to suit their own take and ordered previous versions burnt.

You have faith that you saw ""THE lake of fire".
You have faith that you looked under and within the lake with "super-soul detecting equipment" ?

Not all Christians believe in damnation.
Not all Christians believe in "the" bible.

I am one of them - something i have faith in.

I'm afraid that's not the lake of fire mentioned in the bible, my little furry friend. To answer your question with a 'yes' would suggest that I don't believe, when in fact I do.
