interestingly they predict UK floods. Among other things. Something I discovered during my personal research on this issue:
read up on deep ice core data.
read up on the explaination of dust in ice cores.
compare that with the predictions of global warming.
for the lazy it can be summarized that increased dust in the ice core is explained by drier climates, and perhaps more violent storms. So a colder earth has more deserts and more violent storms. But I was told that global warming would lead to more deserts and more violent storms. Summarily global warming is occuring (personally I think there is a manmade component) but there isnt much evidence of the global devastation predicted.
Most people get all their data from the news. On topics that I can actually get information I read source data. I encourage everyone to do the same and come to a rational informed opinion.

some of the less obvious symptoms of global warming are events exactly like this. others include higher nighttime temperatures across northern north america, which don't always get noticed because skeptics are inside with the A/C running full tilt after 9 pm. nobody wants to hear 'they told you so', but in this case...
once again, i note the senseless worrying about whether the phenomenon is manmade. logically, we have by the sheer volume of our numbers, had some impact on this planet. whether global warming is 100% manmade or some combination of man's activity and nature's whims, it makes perfect sense to do what we can to attempt to correct it. the best way to do that is to learn more about it (done by identifying causes, symptoms, and solutions) and act now.
if this is scary to you and others, that's good! it is quite frightening to think of the changes that are accelerating right now, and where they might lead. if you don't wish to believe it for the good of the earth, believe it for the good of your children.
