Hi,
Ever since i hit puberty i've had really oily hair. A couple of years back i started to wash it everyday but it just became even more greasier. I stopped last December and now do it just every two days but it still becomes really greasy.
I usually wash it at night, blow dry it, give it a quick straighten then go to bed. In the morning i'll straighten it quickly again if i need to go out but usually by afternoon it becomes really greasy and i have to put up with it till the next night.
I wash my hair properly and rinse it with cold water to mae sure i've washed all the shampoo and conditioner off. I always condition it because my hair really needs it. I tend to change the shampoo and conditioner i use every so often because i've heard your hair tends to become used to just one brand and i occasionally use a detox or deep cleansing shampoo
Can anyone recommend anything or even home remedies to help?
Thanks x

Well, when I was young we used to use corn starch or baby powder to absorb the excess oil and make our hair stay cleaner looking longer. Just sprinkle on your scalp and rub in then brush out till you can't see the powder anymore. This should give you at least an extra day. You also can use a cotton ball with a little alcohol. Part your hair and swab the scalp. Continue parting and swabbing where your hair seems oiliest. No more than once or twice a week please so you don't over dry your hair or scalp. The cornstarch is the safest.
Actually your blow drying could also be a part of the problem. The heat from the dryer could be causing your scalp to sweat a little bit thereby releasing skin oils into your hair. Try cutting out the blow dryer. Also depending on the length of your hair you could smooth and wrap it around your head while it is wet and when you wake up it will be dry AND straight. This is what we did before straightening irons. There are also freshening sprays you can use but the main ingredient is alcohol so really no need to spend the money for the spray unless you find one with a scent that appeals to you.

well its kind of expectable seeing that your going through puberty youll just have to deal with it try not to wash it so mush the roots maybe a greasy but the rest of your hair is stripped of oil and the ends become dry and brittle. Use a mild ph-balanced shampoo and wash hair without rubbing the scalp too much. Only apply conditioner to the mid and ends rather than at the roots.

Many salon brands have a shampoo and conditioner for oily hair types. Paul Mitchell has a good one. If you've already tried that and still have the problem, you should see a dermatologist. He will be able to prescribe you a shampoo for severely oily scalps, as that is the root of your problem, no pun intended.

Hm.. mine gets greasy but not like that. Maybe you just need to ask your stylist. Or go swimming soetimes. It might help a little.
