Just ignore the lyrics - no one can understand them anyway - and JAM!

Music is one of the talents that god graces us with. Listening to Heavy Metal Music won't condemn you to hell, though some people will tell you that it will. These would be the same people who say that D&D is satanic and that Harry Potter is Satanic.

I, myself, am a Christian, and I listen to a wide variety of music, from "the Righteous Brothers," to Charlie Daniels, to Petra, to Pink Floyd, Metallica, and others. I tend to think that as long as you are listening to the music to enjoy it, and not paying that much attention to the words, it shouldn't phase you. However, if you are listening to the words and emulating the artists, then you might, and I stress the word, "might" be going against the spirit of god.

It is not a sin to listen to music. It could be sin (and you might break the law) if you actually do what the songs tell you to do.

I hope this helps.

The genre of music doesn't concern me; lyrics do. And I don't think it's a sin to just listen to them; might as well know what's out there. But choosing to listen to them, to me that gets iffy. Personally, I avoid stuff like that, kind of a mental "you are what you eat" philosophy. I also can't stand to listen to hateful or degrading lyrics, no matter how much I like the music that goes along with them.

I think the question you have to ask yourself is "Why am I okay with listening to something that makes satan look cool and good?" (Assuming these are the kind of lyrics you are talking about.) I certainly don't think you have to listen to nothing buy "God stuff," but you can't play for both teams.

Same problem here dude.

I think it'd be wise to stop listening to at least some of the stuff you've been listening and then see how you feel, spiritually i say.

If you like stuff like: Slayer, Brujeria, Napalm Death, Krisium, Kreator etc I'd strongly advise you to quit at once! (i did so when i converted). Still, you seem to be more into regular metal stuff and that is not as though.

Stop with the music with lyrics that are clearly satanic (and remember : lyrics that criticize religion are not necessarily satanic). And again try always to feel how that affect your spiritual life

Also, open up to new music. Although Rock is my favorite, i like almost all types of music and love to listen to different stuff. If you try, you might be surprised

no its not a sin its a style of music because then we can say that listening to rap would be a sin because they way they talk about girls in there songs and alot of heavy metal or any other kind of metal are about losing someone, relationships, love and other things music is all the same just with different beats and different insterments all lyrics come from the heart and are about real life situations so i say its not a sin cause if it is then so is every other type of music that says something bad in it

NO!!!!!!!

And here is my scripture to show that you can do that without wondering if the flames of Hell are going to grab you off the face of the Earth:
Romans 14:14
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

If you think it is bad for you, then don't listen to it. If others are trying to make you feel bad about it, then they probably shouldn't listen to it, it's bad for them. But I think that by what Paul is saying here, there is nothing wrong if you don't see anything wrong.
So there. Rock on! Deep Purple, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and ( lol ) Jethro Tull! ( did you hear about that? They were voted as being the Best Heavy Metal band a few decades ago! lol )

We are commanded to not allow ourselves to be overly influenced by negatives, which as we all know, is extremely difficult to do in the age. So it becomes highly important what we allow into our lives, such as movies, books, music, etc. That said, God will come when He is ready to make a change in your heart and remove that desire from you. For instance, I used to love certain types of shows and then God came and convicted my heart and I knew that I couldn't watch them anymore. I don't miss them and I know that it was for my benefit. As far as music is concerned, I can't listen to stuff that glorifies evil, abuse, denigration to women, drugs, etc. These things are not of God and can hurt you spiritually. Is is a sin? For you, I do not think so because God hasn't removed that desire from you but once He does, to continue to listen to it would then become a sin. Blessings.

No. You can listen to it for its musical quality and not worship satan. That is the most rediculous thing ever, and it is just another label. Metal kicks ayse. And you don't have to look a certain way or worship the occult to like it.

If it doesn't cause you to sin or endorse sin, then there is not really a problem in listening to it. In the same way I like to read books trying to disprove the Bible and God. It doesn't make me sinful or a blasphemer.

Like God is not busy enough with poverty, war, and etc. He spends his time worrying about people listening to heavy metal.
