I've found much of the quality of these kinds of car to be dependent on the level of the mechanic who did the work. And there's the rub. I've found many mechanics these days can't change oil correctly or unwilling to look up the information to do it right.

If the work was done by an expert (like the mechanics at the dealership who work on jeeps all day long), then you have a better chance of the work being done right. That's not to say that I found all work done by the dealer done well. I am just going to assume something big like an engine swap to be given to the top mechanic (instead of the young blood just out of mechanics school).

Also, get some paper work verified. Don't just trust the sellers because they say it has a new engine. Ask to get copies of the receipt of the new engine and verify the engine serial number.

One last thing: A car that had bad engine was driven by a person who did NOT take care of the WHOLE car.

I drive a 95 Civic with 182K miles and the car runs like new. So cars has the ability to run for hundreds of miles if taken care of.

Good Luck.

The engine will work like new. The transmission, drive train, and all other parts still have 109,490 miles on them. The year on the car and condition of exterior and interior will be the factors in determining if $9000 is worth it.

If it's a factory Chrysler replacement engine there should be a warranty with it for a minimum of 1 yr. or 12,000 miles. I would ask for a full description of where the motor came from because there is a big difference between a "factory fresh 100% new" motor and a rebuilt motor. If there's no coverage past 60 days ( new car dealer warrantys) or 30 day used car lot guarantys. I'd keep shopping.

General Motors warrantys all new complete, replacement motors and partial motors 2 yrs. or 24,000 miles.

The car will be exactly like brand new except for the transmission, suspension, paint, body, interior, running gear and everything else except for the engine.

No. There are too many variables includingt he quality of the work performed. You still have a vehicle with 109,000 on it. every other part has five time the wear of the engine.
