i've noticed the boards seem to be 1/4 thin or less and seem to break pretty easy. I'm talking about the boards used for 3 & 4 year olds to break...

I know most of the standard boards are about 1/2-3/4 inch thick, and are usually made of pine. I don't remember 3 & 4 year olds in Tae Kwon Do breaking boards, but if they did... Balsa maybe?

I may be totally wrong. But i used to do tae kwondo, with students as young as 7 & 8, and boards were never mentioned?

pine boards usually one inch thick by twelves inches square are used-the grain being held horizontally for easy breaking for beginners-in more advanced students two-or three boards are used together.
