Sex is not a sin when it is done in the institution of marriage. In the bible when blood was shed between two people it was considered a covenant. For example, God made a covenant or pact with the people of Israel and spared their children when God came for Egypt's first born. The blood of a lamb was smeared on the door posts and those were saved. Jesus made the ultimate covenant by shedding His own blood for us on calvary. The blood shed when a woman and man consumate their marriage is intended to signify the pact or covenant they are both entering into as husband and wife. Our generations see virginity as a joke or something of no value, but in God's eyes it is different. The bible talks about the wages of sin being death. Why else would there be STD's and other complications from promiscuity? It is the wage of sin. Staying pure until your married not only honors God but whomever you marry.

Sex is a sin out of wed lock because it is fornication, and if wed and you use birth control.

Since you are religious thus calling sex a sin, then the only reason you MAKE LOVE is to procreate. There is no such thing as having just sex.

Any other reason is LUST, and LUST is a sin because it goes against Gods will of procreation.

People think they should have control over other people, including their sex lives. The "sex is a sin" thing is just a way to control people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sex in any situation where all parties are consenting. Obviously children do not have the capacity to consent. It is completely natural and an important part of the continuation of the species.

Just be safe.

Those who believe in sin follow guidelines that say sex can be a sin depending on who (or what) it is with, which species they are, when it is performed, which orifices are used, the social status of the partners, etc.

Just remember the golden rule - Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You - and you'll be fine.

Sex isn't a sin. Sex outside of marriage is a sin. The reason why is because God created it as a beautiful act of love between a husband and a wife, and He wants us to enjoy it. He knows that having sex with people you are not married to only leads to problems...unwanted pregnancy, diseases, heartache. He loves us and wants us to experience the same kind of love with our spouses. He created us for a certain purpose, and by having sex outside of marriage, we are abusing His creation. THAT is why he calls it an abomination.

Who said sex was a sin?

I have not seen it.

Sex outside marriage is a sin, but sex itself is not.

Peace be with you!

Who told you this , must be misguided and not spiritual one. Sex is never a sin, it is a pleasure if used for creating the new human beings in the controled enviroment of family and religion. And in some religions it is used to achieve the highest peaks of spirtuality, that is enlightment. Enlightment comes only when your bypolar energies are in balance, that is called orgasmic moment when both partners are connected in one union with each other. Read ancient Tantra of India, Live a balanced ethical life within your religion, and follow its codes, and you will enjoy it fully.

I think that most people think of "sin" in the wrong way. If you look in the Bible (where the idea of sin came from in the first place) when God gave His law to the Israelites, He gave the law, not to restrict His people, but to protect them from themselves. He wanted them to flourish as He wants all people to flourish. "Sin" is thought of as disobeying the laws of God. The laws He gave concerning sex(outside of marriage) were given to keep people from getting diseases, to prevent unwanted pregnancies, To make it so that there was an "order" to things. When someone "cheats" on their wife or husband, it causes many problems besides just ending a marriage.
The reason you are receiving so many replies that say it isn't a sin, is that most people want just to do whatever they want, whatever feels good. They give in to their physical cravings, which in turn creates a "me" society. All these things, God wanted to save us from, but most of the time we're too ignorant to listen.

Jamie, to a Christian Sex is not a sin in the context of aone man and one woman in a marriage relationship. GOd gave us sex, it was His gift for us to use to create intamacy between a husband and wife (read the Song of Solomon)

However, Sex outside of marriage, (fornication) with someone else during the marriage (adultery) and lewd sexual acts (beastiality, sodomy, homosexuality, prostitution) all these are acts of what God refers to as Immorality, and this is what we as Christians deam as sinful behavior.

The good part to all this is that we can as people turn from our ways of immorality, and repent of our sinfull behavior if we look to Jesus, and believe on Him for strength to overcome temptation, and for forgiviness of the sins we have committed
because He died the death we could never die to pay for our sins.

I hope this helps and I pray that God blesses you.

In Jesus Name
