What do you think then? Which one would you prefer, and why?

Any personal opinion on this? What is your belief here (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Agnosticm, Atheism, etc, whatever) and how does it affect your choice?

They're different sides of the same coin, in a way.

"Ignorance is bliss" because the ignorant man is unaware of the complexities and subtleties of his situation. Think of a man with cancer who doesn't know it yet.

Yet "the truth will set you free" because it will release you from your prior misconception of things, and enable you to take the bull by the horns as the ignorant man never could. In the case of the man with cancer, it will allow him the chance to fight it and win.

I am a Christian.
I believe ignorance is Bless yes. If that weren't true I wouldn't be missing chicken fried steak and mash potatoes so bad. Can't get that here.
Since I am a Christian and not ignorant enough to plead it I'll have to go with The truth shall set you free. So I studied until I found and understood the truth and now I am bound to it. That's much harder.
God Bless!

Ignorance is Bliss is most correct.

When you try to provide the faithful ignorant truth, they are not set free. They remain in a blissful, longing-for-the-rapture state of ignorance.

Atheist.

"The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off."

If you tell a lie, you are enslaved to that lie. All your imaginary alibis have to match up.

If you believe a lie, then you are still enslaved to it, but you won't necessarily know it. This *can* show that ignorance is bliss, but only if you're ignorant of your ignorance--and even then, only if the lie manages not to manifest itself as cognitive dissonance when the real world contradicts it.

The truth indeed sets you free, even if the process is painful. But ignorance isn't necessarily bliss.

Ignorance is bliss is the most correct since the Truth is relevant based on how much you know. But since ignorance is the lack of knowledge it can always exist for certain.

The less you know about things the more you can rationalize it in your own mind and make it "ok" it doesn't help anyone but it will make you get by "happy" but really what happiness is there in being a fool?

The truth always. It does not always set you free. This is because, in knowing that there is no god and therefore no easy text to live by, you have to examine life and answer the questions yourself.

TRUTH, it works well for atheism.
IGNORANCE may be bliss for religious fanatics but they never change or grow as individuals, they never develop personal insight and social awareness.

Truth will set you free.

Ignorance is bliss, in sense no more than a drunkard is happier than a sober.

Why can they both not be correct?

Freedom does not mean bliss.
