Your belief that "When you are filled with the Holy Spirit to answer a question in a different language that only another believer can understand." does not line up with the teaching of Paul who wrote 1Cr 14:2 For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in {his} spirit he speaks mysteries.
he bible also states that when you speak in tongues, you are not speaking to men, but to God and Angels (1 Cor 14:2). It could not be demonic as Paul boasted that he spoke in tongues more than anybody. Was Paul filled with a demon?
The belief that tongues are a foriegn language does not stand up to scripture (see 1 Cor 14:2). So, how were the foreigners in Jerusalem able to understand (as mentioned above)? It was a divine act of God that allowed the hearers to hear in their language, not the tongues themselves.
The reference to tongues going away (from those that do not speak in tongues is in 1Cor 13:8), is where the bible states that love never fails but that tongues, knowledge, and prophecies will cease. Notice how 2 of the 3 are still going? Why then, have tongues only gone away?
Critics will also say that tongues were only for the apostles as a means of kicking off the church. But there is not a scriptural basis for this belief. Most of the people that scoff about tongues do not practice tongues.
So what is the purpose of tongues? Paul answers that: To edify himself (1 Cor 14:4). Jude wrote that you build up your faith by praying in the Spirit (tongues) Jude 20.

The holy babale spoken of today is just that babble.
The orginial meaning of speaking in tounges from the Bible was for those that were anointed with holy spirit to be able to speak in the language of the listener. This allowed the preaching of the Gods new kingdom to be preached through out the known world.
Today that same preaching is going on by the printed page in some 350 languages and sub dialects.

Tongues are for two things: personal edification and for the delivery of a specific message to a specific body of people. They are very much real as witnessed in the Word concerning the Day of Pentecost, the 120 worshippers in the Upper Room, and those outside who heard the power of the Holy Ghost fall, allowing the 120 to "....speak in OTHER TONGUES (known languages, but not to the speaker) as the Spirit gave them utterance...." The only "ignorance" that can be found/witnessed concerning tongues is in those who babble on with no interpreter present. The Bible says "Let there be an interpreter present" for the purpose of clarifying the message.

I believe it is an ecstatic, autonomic brain function, probably in the temporal lobe, capable of producing altered mental states, brought on by emotion.
I also believe that once your brain has learned to do it---it's a powerful serotonin releaser---you can just do it, Holy Spirit or not.
Why? Because *I* still can . . . and I'm a Norse Folktru Reconstructionist Heathen. I could as a Buddhist, too, and as an atheist, because I learned *how* in the AOG, and at later times, continued to improve my ability to do so in the Vineyard, and in the Kingdom Movement. I have other, better and more ethnoculturally and historically appropriate ways to achieve the same mental state NOW, as a heathen---we use something called galdr---but glossalalia happens in the brain of the individual. It may or may not be *triggered* by something called the Holy Spirit, but that's not the only way to produce the effect.
Not fake, no. Merely one of many forms of votive ecstatic meditation humans have always practiced.

Well...get out the Duck tape!!!!
In the early days of the Church, as recorded in the New Testament, it was normal and expected for every believer. There is no reason for it to be any different today.
In fact, believers in every country of the world do speak in tongues -- over 332 million of them.
ACTS 2:4 NKJ
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
In the New Testament we have no record of any believer failing to receive the Holy Spirit and speak with tongues.
No scripture says it should be different with us today. Every believer should speak in tongues.
1 CORINTHIANS 14:5 NKJ
5 I wish you all spoke with tongues . . . .
The apostle Paul said:
1 CORINTHIANS 14:18 NKJ
18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;
I can understand why he did it so much. It is such a great help and benefit. Speaking in tongues will not make you better than someone else -- but it will help you.

I do believe that some people have been taken over by the holy spirit and that takeover cause them to speak in tongue. I also believe that people often fake it too. I am not one to look down on others, but you shouldnt play with God.

I think the ignorant one is the one who asked this question.
Tongues are in the Bible and if you want to learn if they are for, just read the Bible.
Who cares about anyone's personal opinion.
Tongues are talked about in the Bible in the following chapters:
Mark 16, Acts 2, 8, 9, 10 19; 1 Corinthians 12 and 13 and 14
Acts 2 tells us that tongues are for today, they are for all who call upon the Name of the Lord.

Hummana, hummana, hummana. Is not a language. Speaking in tongues is fake and done to impress others as to how holy you are. Jesus would spit on someone like Benny Hinn speaking like that and claiming it is from god.

Fake, although the person generally doesn't realize this. Of course, it's not any more delusional than talking to an imaginary friend and expecting that imaginary friend to help you out.
