My husbands younger brother is getting married next month. I have never met his fiance and I have no clue what to wear. It will be an inside wedding. I am a short and large woman. Any suggestions that are tasteful and don't involve wearing a mu mu?

wear something black and comfortable, and add a bright necklace or earrings or some cute barrett in your hair. I found that they have cute dresses at dress barn that a reasonable and still cute. I'm short, 5'0, and a size 12 or 14, and i've found cute things there.

I'm a fellow - short, roly-poly woman. You're right! The last thing you want to look like is a walking couch! The important thing is to look well-groomed.

Go to a store that specializes in larger sizes and look for a really good suit in a neutral color - navy blue, beige, brown, dark green etc. Then buy several blouses and accessories to go with it. And a couple of pair of comfortable shoes.

Dress Barn Woman and Lane Bryant come to mind.

That will give you something to wear after the wedding.

KEY POINT! Buy clothes that FIT your body - not what the size tag says. Look for separates too - because you may be a 22 up top and an 18 on the bottom.

A nice pair of slacks, with a straight cut, or slight flare at the bottom, with a fitted top that has ribbing or darting in the waist area. Use V-necks or scoop necks for a longer, leaner look.
If wearing a skirt as opposed to slacks, for a shorter, stockier person, find a flowing one that stops just at the knees and has a little flare at the bottom.
If opting for a dress, try them on, avoid the boxy, square cut looks, and go for something simple, with an hourglass cut.
Avoid: stripes and bold patterns, and heavy jewelry. Try to use a solid color in a shade such as cranberry, navy, emerald green..etc...
I'm sure you'll look absolutely wonderful, have a great time~

I agree with the wrap dress idea! Those are always so cute and flattering. Pick a pretty color that looks good with your skin tone and add some cute/unique shoes and a pretty necklace and earrings. Or a halter dress- I just got a really cute one to wear to a wedding at JcPenney. I'm sure if you just go start trying stuff on, you'll find a dress that you love! :)

A flattering summer/fall dress would look nice. Or a flowy skirt and nice top. Something that's not to revealing or flowery, but still makes you look good. If it's not too dressy of a wedding tan pants or capris with cute shoes and a nice shirt would be ok, too.

Is it a formal or informal wedding? Church or country club? Are you 30 or 50?
Black can be worn if it isn't the wedding color.
Jewelry to a minimum; no boobs out. For barer dresses have a cover-up in case it turns cool but especially if the wedding is in a sanctuary.

Something like this for an informal wedding

A Wrap dress always flatters us bigger ladys. Or a nice pair a slacks. A dressy pair of jeans with low heels?

You cant go wrong w/ a nice black cocktail type dress, your best jewelry and fabulous hair and makeup.

If you accessories right, a black dress will look glamorous and sophisticated rather then morbid.
