I dont have espresso. Do you need espresso to make one?? And, does anyone have a recipe that does not include espresso or has a subsitute?

To get that smoky skunky flavor of espresso, yeah, you really need an espresso machine.

BUT...you can buy instant espresso powder (like Medaglia d'Oro brand).

Make one or two portions of it, put it into a glass, add chocolate syrup and mix well. Add 2% or whole milk, and stir. Pour over ice cubes and top with whipped cream.

I used to own a coffeehouse.

Use a "complete" hot chocolate mix but mix it with hot coffee instead of milk. That makes the coffee flavor twice as strong as if you make the hot chocolate normally and add coffee to it. That's about as close as you can come using coffee instead of espresso.

well espresso is basically concentrated coffee. if you have regular coffee, just use an extra amount of grounds.

its just coffee and hot chocolate i get them all the time at time hortons....take a glass and make a hot chocolate but make sure your cup is big enough to pour the coffee in and if you have wipped cream you can put that on top

Get a coffee grinder. You can make these drinks with any coffee bean, just grind it to a fine powder.
