Well, head and shoulders will actually make your scalp produce more oils. That's how it gets rid of dandruff. I would go to a health store and get a shampoo with tea tree in it. Smelly hair? It's probably the mix of head and shoulders and the regular shampoo you're using. When your at the health store getting tea tree shampoo, find an essential oil that you think smells good. Lemon, Eucalyptus, Sage, Thyme and Basil are all really good for oily hair. Pick one that you like the smell of and then put a few drops into your new shampoo. That should work well.

Well, actually.. Hair gets oily if you do wash your hair too much
what I would reccomend is taking showers but only shampooing hair 1 time a day. I also would invest in a cologne, I reccomend Dolce & Gabanna anything, and spray some in your hands and rub through hair. Also, try a new product. When you go to, wherever you buy your products open the container lid a little bit and smell how it smells, if it smells good, then purchase it.

To get that feel of soft and healthy hair, its to make your hair finer. Here are some homemade tips:
Apply to your hair a generous amount of either, Coconut, Olive, or almond oil, and apply it onto your hair. Put a shower cap over it, and leave in for the night. When its morning, rinse it out. This mosturizes your hair, making it feel, finer, smoother, silkier, and healthier.
Mush 8 strawberries w/ 1 tablespoon of mayonaise. Massage onto hair. (Do not rinse). Put a shower cap over it, then a warm towel, leave in for 1/2 hour. Then rinse. You will feel unbelievable difference immediatley.
Comb your hair w/ a Natural Boar Bristle brush. This will take the natural oils from your hair, and distribute it out evenly to your hair. Which will make it feel softer and shinier. (Brush can be found at Target)
Rinse your hair w/ cold water instead of warm water after you shampoo. This closes the cuticle of your hair.
Use a Deep conditioner once a week. (I recommend the Garnier Fructis Deep conditioner 3 min.) It will hydrate your hair, leaving it soft and shiny!
Mix 2 eggs w/ a little bit of milk, and massage into hair, leave in for 5 min. Then rinse out w/ cold water.
I hope you like these homemade recipies! Good Luck with making your hair nice and soft! I hope i helped, The website on the bottom, you can find more tips!

Maybe try using a vinegar and water rinse to get rid of any buildup. I would guess about a quarter cup vinegar to a quart of water after shampooing - then rinse again very, very well.
You could also substitute lemon juice for the vinegar.
Get a new shampoo. I would shampoo once a day, and just wet the other times.

Sounds like the same problem that I have and just went to the dermatologist for it. It is called Seborrheic dermatitis and the doctor gave me some samples of shampoos to use. I was told to try different one's until I found one that worked and if none of them did he could prescribe a shampoo and some ointment that would. Here is what he gave me and so far the T-gel works the best.
Neutrogena T-Gel
Neutrogena T-Sal
Head & shoulders
Hope this helps

I think your washing it a little too much.... But I think you should get special shampoo for oily hair. I think even head & shoulders makes one. For the smell... I don't know... Put nice smelling stuff in it (for hair). Or see a doctor about it. :-)

You need to use a product for extremeley oily hair. Is there a reason you use head and shoulders? It is typically for dandruff and I would imagine with such oily hair that you have no dandruff. It is a medicated shampoo and could be increasing your problem.

It sounds to me as if your hair is producing too much oil to make up for the fact that you are washing the oil out 4 times per day. Similar to if you washed your face too many times per day, your face would start producing too much oil to make up for it. Some of the oil is good for your hair. However it may not hurt to see a doctor.

Talk to a dermatologist. It sounds like you have some sort of a skin/scalp problem that regular shampoo won't cure.
Apart from that, you're washing your hair far too often and it can't be beneficial for its balance.
