The Great Global Warming Swindle is a controversial documentary film by British television producer Martin Durkin, which argues against the scientific theory that human activity is the main cause of global warming.
I was impressed by the filmmakers ability to misrepresent data and make it appear accurate. I had been wanting to see what how the otherside thinks.
Has any one else seen this film? What are your thoughts?

I always like to know the other side of the arguement. If you don't know their argument how can you prove them wrong? It is propaganda and so is mr.Gore's movie. Unfortunately, this subject is based on science which most poeople don't understand as well as they do rhetoric and propaganda.

Larry- I am a scientist too. Credentials and prestige does not make them right. They are saying factual things but they are leaving out the whole picture. I can listen just fine. In fact I watched the movie hoping that I would learn something. All I learned is that even respected scientists will lie for the right money.

Yes I have seen it. It is political propaganda, just like "An Inconvenient Truth", only with an opposite spin. Some of what is says is true but much of what it says is distorted. But I do agree with the film's portrayal of the political forces at work.

I saw it on line some time ago, but now I am having trouble finding it. Has political pressure been exerted on those posting it to remove it? That would certainly be in agreement with the claims of political tactics made in the firm itself. It claims that freedom of speech is being denied to anyone who does not agree with the point of view in "An Inconvenient Truth".

The Great Global Warming Swindle is a controversial documentary film by British television producer Martin Durkin, which argues against the scientific opinion that human activity is the main cause of global warming. The film showcases scientists, economists, politicians, writers, and others who are sceptical of the scientific consensus on anthropogenic global warming. Publicity for the programme states that man-made global warming is "a lie" and "the biggest scam of modern times."[1]

Channel 4, which screened the documentary on March 8, 2007, described the film as "a polemic that drew together the well-documented views of a number of respected scientists to reach the same conclusions. This is a controversial film but we feel that it is important that all sides of the debate are aired."[2]

The programme's accuracy has been disputed on multiple points and several commentators have criticised it, claiming that it is one-sided and that the mainstream position on global warming is supported by the scientific academies of the major industrialized nations[3] and other scientific organizations. The film disputes the positions of these scientific organizations by interviewing scientists and others, including Richard Lindzen and other contributors to reports by the IPCC, who disagree with explanations that attribute global warming to human activities.

I think they need to wake up and smell the pollution, even if it isn't human beings causing this, we are still destroying the planet wholesale to make a few easy bucks peroid! That is reason enough to change our ways.

This film isn't "controversial"--its simply one of the more recent propaganda pieces paid for by the oil industry. The idea it talks about a controversy is nonsense--there is no doubt--or debate--about global warming or its origins in human action. So there's no controversy.
But a lot of gullible people have been confused by it. Its amazing, really, that so many people are so ignorant of even the most basic sceince they'll let themselves be so easily made fools of. Pitiful.

"I was impressed by the filmmakers ability to misrepresent data and make it appear accurate."

That's a good description, as it fooled a lot of people. Personally I thought it was extremely transparent about misrepresenting the data, as I found myself nearly screaming at the computer every 30 seconds as I watched it. However, I'm pretty well-informed about global warming, unlike many people.

If someone who weren't familiar with the science behind global warming were to watch this film, I can see how they'd be fooled into thinking it was a bunch of damning evidence that anthropogenic global warming is a bunch of BS.

Absolutely terrible film akin to propaganda.

I agree with them ,because the data does not compute. The big CO2 scam is taken care of by nature . The plants have done a great job. Then the methane problem, again the data is not there. Methane is a light gas and there is no way to measure it. It should be about 55 miles up but it is not there either. Methane is a very flammable gas ,and I think when it gets in the high altitude the intense sun light oxidizes it . It the green house gas is not there neither is global warming. Around here it could be global cooling.

There has been a good number of people wanting to discredit the film, but you have to listen to the scientists who are speaking to you. They do have good credentials and some of them have given similar testimony in another documentary. One that I like more.

Glad I missed it.

It seems to be that everybody I hear about named "Durkin" is some sort of crook. Is it a "gypsie" clan like the McDaniels and McWilliams?

Haven't seen it yet, but I've been saying for months that it's stupid for Liberals to cry 'wolf' when they could get the same job done using honest economic incentives. I find it sad that you people can't even recognize the truth when it's presented to you in your own language.
