Or was it all experimental broadcasts, and can anyone give me any info on these? (Especially interested in early tv in the uk)... if anyone could link to any other info on early tv broadcasts apart from wikipedia etc, i'd be grateful.. tahnks

The first regular TV broadcast wasn't until around 1939. Regular programming didn't start until the late 1940s in a few large cities. Most people listened to radio programs well into the 1950s instead of watching TV.

Televisions did not exist in the 1920's. The first known broadcast of anything like TV was at the 1939 World's Fair. It was an image of Felix the Cat. TV didn't come into American homes until after World War 2.
