First base is 90 feet from home base, a square object fielded by the first baseman
Second base is the same object, 90 feet from 1st base which is 180 feet from home plate. fielded by the second baseman and frequently patrolled by the short-stop.
Third base is yet the same object, 90 feet from second base, 180 feet from first base, and 270 from home plate. fielded by the fella that plays the third base position.
