How would you feel if you started seeing someone casually, and it developed unexpectedly into a physical relationship where you both constantly tell each other how wonderful and great you are (and you, the man, even dropped the "L" word while you were drunk) but neither of you had made the relationship "official" yet?

To be fair, I made it pretty clear in the beginning that I wasn't looking for a serious thing ... and now, I think I might be changing my mind but I'm not sure, and I don't want to go out on a limb if he isn't looking for something serious ... maybe he only said the "L" word because he was drunk, not because he meant it ...

So, my official question is this: in this situation, do you men even feel the necessity of offically saying "we're dating" or "we're exclusive"? Is he holding off because he doesn't think I want to go there or because he already assumes we are there?

(he does tell me how he gets jealous & is afraid I'll see someone on the side)

If the "L" word is "love" than, look into it a bit. But if its lesbian than, he's just an average guy. but you said he's jelous than, he's probibly serious.(if he's not drunk)

I didn't mean to be offensive when i said lesbian.

That doesn't mean you two are dating, or that he even wants to. Guys will want to have you all to themselves but have other things on the side. Saying that you love each other when you are drunk doesn't mean anything. It's said out of a drunken stupor, which makes it null and void.

When someone is drunk they are more likely to tell the truth, even if they wouldn't say it when they are sober - which has caused alot of friction in more cases than it does any good.

He's most likely holding back to give you your space.

No need. These things develop over time.

i think most men don't see the need to "make it official" and most women do want to know where they stand.

just go with the flow...and be patient.

sit down and talk with him. You need to communicate if you are going to have ANY kind of relationship!
