She woke up this morning coughing, the coughing wasn't really harsh but she was gagging and would almost throw up. It kind of seemed as though she was congested, but nothing came up when she coughed, and her voice was scratchy. Is this something I should be concerned about or is this just maybe a cold coming on?

sounds like allergies and sinus drainage. my son gets this to. talk to your doctor about allergy possibilities and treatments. my son is on singulair and Zyrtec daily because of his. also if you don't want a permanent prescription answer there is a dimetapp for cold/allergy that works really good, but ask doctor first because not sure if she can take and what the dosage would be. good luck!

I would guess it's probably allergies but it could be a number of things. My son (2 1/2) has done this a lot in the past and is allergy related.
We tried Zyrtec but it didn't help much for him. He's been taking Singulair for about a year and it is a BIG help!

I would consider it a cold, but if you are worried nothing wrong with having your little one checked over by a nurse.

But personally if there is no temperature and its just a cough now and then i wouldn't worry but being a mother that's your job.

All my love and best wishes

Could just be a summer cold, but with all the viruses going around these days better take her to the doctor before it gets worse.

In addition to the other fine suggestions, have her evaluated for GERD (reflux).
