I have had many issues in life, and coping with them is part of life, but i truly believe that "I" got myself into a better situation, Not that fact that i have faith in a higher power.. I feel like i am badgered by folks who tell me religion makes everything better, when deep down inside i completely disagree.
9/10 of what we hear about religion these days was created by man.
Is there anyone else that thinks this way?

and for those who say thay listen to god...
I think that's funny, because you are really listening to other people, Priests, etc.. not God...
My point exactly...

thanx for all your responses i appreciate them...

But i have to reitterate to all of you who say god helps you through all these situations in life and how life would be incomplete without him..

I say that you have been told that your whole life and that is what you believe, i have also been told that my whole life,

But god is an idea, a belief, not a fact. at least in my book... pun intended..

Facts are things you can see and touch and prove.

I believe I made myself who i am and when i was younger and more religious, the church only hindered me in believing in myself.

It's a liability thing for them. Seems like they need to credit something for everything that happens in their life and have an excuse when things don't turn out the way they hoped.

What I don't understand is why they say "God helps those who help themselves" when you end up doing it all yourself anyway.

I know just what you mean.

Right now, I wish one of those X-ians was right, and that all I had to do was pray for the water to drain in my clogged bathroom sink -- I even took the 'god helps those who helps themselves' route and tried Liquid Plumber, a plunger, and even took the little cap off the elbow shaped pipe. But it looks like Jesus isn't hearing my prayers, and I'm going to be out a hundred bucks or so when I pay the plumber.

Ah, well, nothing to be done -- just love thy neighbor and all that, and let the "Christians" babble on. I can rest easy knowing that lots of them have clogged drains, too.

"The flower withereth and the grass fades, but the Word of our God shall stand forever" ( Isaiah 40:8). You said it right, "religions are created by man." Satan first, then blind men keep following his false teachings through the ages. But the Word of God is inspired by God alone ( 2 Timothy 3:16 ). I'm not religious. I do not follow a religion. I am a Christian who follows the only way, Jesus Christ. You are correct in one aspect...we all go through storms of life and get in hard places. Sometimes it seems like we will never make it through or see light at the end of the tunnel. Two things are certain: We will never get results by sitting on our haunches and just crying "woe is me." We, you and me, have to do something. We play a part in the end-result. Secondly, when I am doing all that I know to do while praying and waiting on the Lord, I can trust and know that my situation is temporary because "He will bless me for my obedience." It is God who gives us the strength, the health to "carry on" when we feel like quitting. And it is God who gives the increase. If I stripped God out of the equation as you have in your thinking that God should not be credited for your life's situations, then I have dismissed the One who is my biggest cheerleader, my encourager, my protector, and best friend. Besides the fact that "pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall ( Proverbs 16:18 )....... We need to get off the thrones of our lives because there is only one King and His name is Jesus Christ.

Christianity and spirituality make things better. It doesn't mean that life will be perfect. Religion doesn't make things better. Religion is man made rules and regulations. Feeling that you have done it all on your own is really prideful because you are God's child and He is watching over you and helping you whether you believe it or not.

Ture for the asker and the first two people who posted this....it is the Human Will that makes us better, not some divine power...and listen to this....why is it that when a Christian does something good, they say "Thank you God" but when they do something bad, they can either say "The Devil made me do it," or "I did it..." so what happened to God? If he can make you do good things why not bad? OR better yet, if you can do bad things then why can't you do good things too?

Perhaps a faithless soul would agree with you. No offense intended here, but I respect your SERIOUS question and have to answer it honestly.

God has created all of us, creates the skills, talents and interests in our hearts and minds. Then, he graces us with the power to overcome challlenges and obstacles. HIs power moves within us and gives us the ability to do what we do.

That is why some may tell you that God fixes everything, because He sends someone inspired by His grace to "fix" the wrong in our lives. He gives us, or them, the talent or ability to do what is needed.

Exactly! Remember, "god" is nothing more than a nonsense word made up to explain away the things we can't yet understand.

When you truly sit back and wait on his deliverance.
Having the attitude that once prayed for ... believed for him to work it out.... trust in the fact that he's already done it for you in eternity passed. Walk on in faith on that and wait till it unfolds. That is when he actually does it. It's like you pray, and then forget about it because you know he's going to work it out... so sit back in a lounge chair and put your hands behind your head and enjoy your day knowing that.... he's got it all figured out.... not your way, but his way... and his way is better than your way. Trust that, and it is in the bag! Done, finished every single time.
