I wore contact lenses for ten years and had this guy from the Lyon Contact Lens Center (in CA) that was supposed to be sooooo Christian and when I told him I was thinking of getting lasik or whatever the exact term is he emphasized to me the "danger" of having that done.

I had it done a few years ago and found it to be painless, fairly affordable (1,000 USD) and got 20/20 vision from what was severe nearsightedness. My vision has never changed over the years since the procedure. I never experienced one problem with it and I had two other family members do it at the same time I did and they're both fine too.

All the contact lens specialists in that office now as I recall always tried to get me to buy the most expensive latest model contact lens too even though they knew I didn't need it and was a broke student!!!

What pisses me off is they are so endorsed by Calvary Chapel and that is why I believed that these guys were actually looking out for me like they sooo pretended to be

There are people of all faiths that are good examples and bad examples.
Like people who go to Church just to be the best dressed or gossip about other people. Then there are the ones who go to worship God and Jesus and pray for the ones who are not there for the right reasons. Same thing for not in Church. Some Christians are bad examples.. Just look for the good examples.
Satan would love for us to just see the bad examples... But your relationship is between YOU and God and Jesus.

It seems God lead you to the path that was best for you.. So, I think he's watching out for you. Because, while Lasik surgery is highly successful, there are also cases where it does not work and your eyes are damaged. I know many people who have had it done and are happy. But I also had an uncle who lost most of his sight in one eye because something went wrong during the surgery.

Enjoy your 20/20.. God blessed you with a successful surgery :)

A couple years back I had a friend who underwent a lasik procedure and had his vision severaly damaged by the process. There are dangers involved in lasik, or any procedure.

It is at all possible that your Doctor might be overcautious? That he has seen damage done by the surgery, and feels he has to warn people that sometimes the surgery is dangerous?

If you are to poll doctors (Christian or not) on any medical procedure, you would find some that would favor it and others that would not. (What is the famous slogan, 4 out 5 doctors recommend....). You will never find total agreement on anything.

If it really bothers you, rather then automatically assigning evil motives to the doctor, you might want to ask him why he has such reservations about the procedure. He may be able to give you a "legitmate" reason for his reluctance to endorse it besides "money".

Congratulations,

You apparently found a greedy Christian.

There are more out there, and also greedy Atheists, Muslims, Jews.

Don't blame the faith for the failings of the flock, we do not claim to be perfect.

Peace be with you!

Any time you have a medical procedure there is a risk. That's why most people would want a second opinion (or more).

Why do people persist in asking such general questions. Any answer is not going to be correct because people are different. :(

I wasn't aware that Calvary Chapel endorsed any business. Sounds like another generalization.

My eye doctor is very Christian and while I can't get LASIK he recommended it for my dad when it first came out. So I'd say no only greedy eye doctors are like that.

There are people like this in every profession who try to con you. It is not just the Christians who try this.

You're making a sweeping generalization that just is not true.

Why do christians need contacts to see the truth?

Ohh, probably because they are blinded by their greed.
