which are designed, they think, to make them seem wise but only adds to the belief others have that they are blind and follow a church of lies?

Your guess is as good as anyone else's.

It seems to me to be some kind of "one-liner" type questions that they ask to make it seem like they know what they're talking about.... and when logical debate is brought upon them in regards to their question they vanish without a trace.

They may ask a question:

If we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys?

and many people come on saying that we did not evolve from monkeys and that the person is uneducated in the concepts of evolution.... but later that person posts another one of those same one-liner type questions. Proving their ignorance, arrogance, and sheep-like behaviour.

I've noticed a that quite a few people do - christians and non-christians. when they ask a question it's not to get an actual answer to something they don't know, it's to gather all their cronies around them and tell each other how right they are and how wrong everyone else is. A lot of them don't even listen to the answers they've asked for.

Having said that, I think you're generalising a bit there about *all* christians doing that. Close-minded people of all beliefs and persuasions do it. A lot of the time it's just a request for moral support on a stance.

Partially right...SOME CHristians do, so if any Chrisitan says "We don't" You're wrong, because some do, "We" means "all" and since "all" does not ask rhetoric quesitons, then you're wrong....But then not all Christians do so then you're wrong too....But anyway, the reason is is that they DO want to be seen as smart, wise, and what not...though most of the tme (by non-believers at least) They don't, it's only those who actually follow the said rhetoric poster that he seems so smart and wise...

From reading your rhetorical question (a question that includes its own answer) I assume you must be a Christian.

Anyway, I'm also a Christian. I ask many, many questions about my faith that I don't know the answer to. Just today I asked somebody if Claudia (Pilate's wife) is mentioned by name in the Bible. That's not a rhetorical question.

The same reason that atheists and everyone else on here only ask rhetorical questions. No one really cares about the beliefs of others; everyone just wants to prove themselves right.

LOL, not me....Look at mine. I ask when I want an answer.

I am not blind, nor do I follow a church of lies.

I treat others as I want to be treated.

I believe in God and accept Jesus. That is not a lie. It is the truth and is my reality.

Primoa -

Wrong!

Rhetorical questions are questions that the asker does not want an answer to!

Because they are smug and think they know it all.
Not all of them ask rhetorical questions though but I suppose they are all rhetorical in their beliefs, because they are not allowed to question them.

Here's a question for you; Why do atheist who ask rhetorical questions ask why Christians ask rhetorical questions? Answer that and you'll have your answer. (Now that's a good answer!)
