I think that we should try not to comment on each other's religion and try to be happy with our religion of choice, explain it if someone asks and let the other people be. You can politely explain your beliefs, but not attack the other person's belief.

In the end we gain nothing by attacking each other do we?

I agree with your beliefs completely and I'm sure there would be many who would act like that if given the chance... But then, after you explain what you believe to others, they come along and give no counter-argument or any reasonable thought and say something like "The Lord Jesus shall save me and I shall pray for you. Amen." So after a long paragraph of what you believe, something you put you mind and beliefs in, some parrot comes along and automatically turns everything off with just using the same old clichee lines... How can that NOT make anyone angry?!?

Salam sis
I agree that persons her shouldn't attacking each other about their religions and believes
they should listen to each other and respect their religions to
And as we Muslims we had message to all the people and we can call it responsibility; which is guiding the others to the right way to protect them from the punishment of ALLAH
And we will asking about it in the resurrection
at last Ill remind u that our religion is peacefully......

To me, religion can be both a tool and a weapon. If someone is using their religion pecefully, to better themselves and help them get through the day, then I have absolutely no problem with them. But if asomeone uses it as a weapon to attack me or as a shield to hide unscrupulous actions behind, their religion is no longer off limits... Examples are people like Ted Haggard and Osama Bin Laden, their religious beliefs are no longer holy to me...

Normally, I would say it would be a good thing to just let people have whatever religious beliefs they wanted. Under normal circumstances, there is no really good reason to call someone's beliefs into question.

However, in the United States, we currently have the problem that a lot of religious fundamentalists want to rewrite our laws and public policies to conform to their religious beliefs. When someone wants to pass laws, that I would have to live by, based on their religious beliefs, I have a big problem with that. Laws should be based on logic, not superstition.

When someone drags their religious beliefs out into the public arena and tries to force them on other people through legislation, I think it is imperative that people point out problems in the religion.

The fundamentalists here seem completely unable to understand why people would not want to live according to their religious tenets. I think that it is very important to explain why we believe their religion is false when they are trying to force it on everyone.

I agree. Attacking and arguing does absolutely no good. Discussing is a different story. We can learn a lot about others as well as ourselves by comparing and contrasting religions.

Yes, I agree with you. Attacking or insulting will be of no use. We gain nothing but hatred and enemity in our heart which is truth is to to be filled with Love of God as to love everyone. But discussion and sharing knowledge will bring good and progress in life. One need not shout aloud for the darkness to get away. Those who have the light in them let them walk by it. So that everyone can see it. Darkness is nothing but the absence of light.

If u r a muslim (not just by name, but even by deeds),
i think u must carry the message of the prophets to the "Kaffirs"(non-muslims)....yr duty is to only carry the message...
u just have 2 ask them 2 convert, and not force them to convert .....
secondly , its yr duty to fight if any Kaffir attacks yr religion...
this is wt is DEEN or ISLAM...and this fight is called JIHAD..
this is how Islam has spread and not by keeping quite and sitting in yr homes safely.....
cauz like this u r not defending de religion , u r defending yr life.....

Being polite & respectful is always commendable, and we get no where by "attacking" each other, but what if someone is mistaken in their beliefs? Do we simply let someone go to Hell without a warning? The prophets would suggest that this implies that we just don't care.

--------------------------
"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.

"Son of man, say to the house of Israel, 'This is what you are saying: "Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?" ' Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?'

--The Prophet Ezekiel (Ez 33:7-11 (NIV))
